Breakfast: A strawberry, raspberry, acai, soymilk and protein powder smoothie.

Snack: None.

Lunch: Mango chicken salad, 1 coke, 1 cup tortilla chips, 1/3 cup queso. That's pretty much my carbs for the day, I think.

Snack: No snack.

Dinner: Cold chicken, a bit of goat cheese and 4 triscuits.

Snack: A cup of soy milk and a handful of cheerios.

Breakfast: 2 small handfuls Honey Nut Cheerios. A half-glass of chocolate soy milk. 1 egg. 1 slice Canadian bacon. 1 can V-8. 1 piece of toast, buttered. 1 cup tea. (I know the breakfast cereal and the soy milk weren't the best idea, but I waited too long to get breakfast and I was really hungry. My bad.)

Snack: None.

Lunch: A piece of cold, leftover chicken (no skin), cheese, a half dozen triscuits, and a handful of cherry tomatoes.

Snack: Popcorn popped in canola oil, a small Pepsi (8 oz)

Dinner: 3 slices of a pancetta and tomato and onion woodfired thin crust pizza. A Limonata. 2 scoops of gelato.

Snack: A glass of chocolate soy milk.

Saturday: Let's just say that between the Little League Championship Game, the following cookout, and the Pramas birthday party for dinner, I was not even remotely on task with the diet. I had sodas, I had some wine, I had carbs... I did try to keep the protein levels up and I did have some fruit along the way, but it was just not a day designed for austerity. :) I regret nothing.

Sunday: Started back on track here. Ran late in the morning and ended up getting a breakfast sandwich for me and the boys on the way to their class. I ate only a couple of bites of the "biscuit" the egg, cheese, and bacon were on. Instead I tossed those out and rolled up the resulting mess and ate it. I also had orange juice, which I probably shouldn't have, but it was better than a soda. From there we went to Chang's Mongolian Grill for lunch, as my back was killing me and I really wasn't up to cooking, and I hadn't made it to the grocery store yet. Lots of chicken and veggies, light on the oil and no carbs. Had a Dry Soda (rhubarb -- sugar based and only 60 cal for 12 oz) and ice water. Go me. Dinner consisted of leftover chicken, leftover potatoes, and an apple for dessert. And an ice pack on my back. Went to the store later and got some fish and a steak and such, so that should be good for the week to come.

I'm very sure I didn't accomplish anything useful, but that's okay. Sunday was better than the two days previous, and I'm back on task again now. Sometimes that's just the way life is. :)

Y'know, I could put it all down here, but it's really easier to say that I barely ate today, what I did eat was all wrong, and while quantity was within acceptable boundaries, quality was not. Everyone takes a day now and again, though to range further afield. It doesn't mean anything other than that I do better tomorrow.

Day 14! This makes two weeks. Go me. As of today I can get up to three servings of carbs per day and three servings of fruit, but honestly I'm pretty happy with what I've been doing. Not too concerned about it. I am still losing weight (the tape measure this morning had dropped below the next inch marker) and I'm pleased with my progress. Onward and upward, I guess. :) I'll weigh again tomorrow and see where I'm at.

Breakfast: 2 wholegrain organic frozen waffles I desperately need to get out of my freezer. 2 patties veggie sausage. 1 can V-8. About 2 tbsp agave nectar drizzled over the waffles instead of syrup. 3/4 cup chocolate soy milk.

Snack: None. Breakfast was both late and substantial.

Lunch: Iced tea w/ some sugar -- should have put stevia packets in my purse. I'll remember that next time. BBQ pork -- nibbled at bun but mostly used fork. Cabbage cole slaw. Sweet potato fries -- they were fried, but what can you do? At least they weren't regular potatoes. Was surprised at how little it took for me to get full, and that I really didn't miss the bun on the sandwich at all. Go me.

Snack: None.

Dinner: 1 piece fried chicken (a wing) from Ezell's, the local OMG-that's-good chicken place. 1/2 cup mashed potatoes with a drizzle of gravy. 1 white roll. Iced tea.

Snack: 2 handfuls of cherries, 1 wedge of Laughing Cow cheese, 3 whole grain crackers.

Got some money today. So going to the grocery store (and the farmer's market, if I can swing it).

Breakfast: Standard: an egg, a slice of Canadian bacon, a piece of buttered toast, a can of V-8, a cup of tea.

Snack: None.

Lunch: A bento box from the Cutting Board in Georgetown. I have to say, that was some amazing food. Teriyaki chicken, teriyaki tofu, some sort of tempura type chicken, a tempura-type prawn, a mashed-potato patty (at least I think that's what it was), some veggie gyoza, three pieces of a California roll, and some salad. 1 12 oz. can of coke (my bad).

Snack: 1 SF Fudgesicle (the last one, yay!) A piece of string cheese.

Dinner: Potluck: Watermelon, salad, a small amount of pasta, a couple of homemade pork gyoza, 1 1/3 chocolate cookie, and a carrot cake cupcake. 1 small glass red wine. No soda (yay!)

Hope money comes in today. I could use to go to the grocery store.

Breakfast: 1 egg, 1 slice Canadian bacon, 1 piece whole-grain toast w/"butter," 1 can low-sodium V-8 juice, 1 cup mint tea.

Snack: String cheese. Two handfuls of Cheerios. (argh, totally not helpful)

Lunch: 1 ham & cheese lean pocket w/ostensibly whole-grain crust. 1 smoothie made of unsweetened orange juice, 3/4 cup of strawberries, a bit of chocolate soy milk (it's what I had) and a little agave nectar for sweetness. At least I've now had fruit. Ought to have veggies for lunch too, but they're in short supply at the moment, and I'm not hungry now.

Snack: A granola bar. I was hungry and didn't plan ahead because I thought I'd be just two blocks from my house the whole evening (I was wrong), and someone offered me one -- and my next chance at food would be two hours away. Such is life.

Dinner: Breaded frozen fish fillets. Plain yogurt with cocoa powder, vanilla, and agave nectar to sweeten.

Useful things to know:

1) Yes, it is the sweetener that's triggering my headaches. Stupid sweetener. As soon as I get through the sugar-free stuff I've got in my fridge/freezer right now, they're not being replaced.

2) I'm now back down to my lowest weight from doing this the first time, which I'd sort of surmised from measurements but it's nice to have that borne out by an actual scale. It also makes me happy because I didn't just let it go when I started gaining weight back. Instead I fixed it. Go me. :)

3) I'm setting upon a reckless new means of self-rewarding when I do something good by taking money I would use to grab food out (something I really like to do, and do more often than I should) and putting it toward a monthly massage. My chiropractor tells me it would do me good, and I'm frankly a sucker for massages, so why not? Today at the gym the lady who does massages there was doing complimentary chair massages in the lobby, and it was really helpful. Here's to breaking out of the cycle of rewarding myself primarily with food I'm not supposed to have.

4) What I eat in the morning really does make a difference in what I crave the rest of the day. Sigh.

5) I am actually drinking a huge amount of water or sparkling water or (primarily) unsweetened iced tea during the day. It's just not worth it to recite it all here, at least not yet.

Oops. Forgot to write this down yesterday.

Breakfast: 1 egg, 1 slice Canadian bacon, 1 piece of whole grain toast with "butter," 1 small can V-8 juice. 1 cup tea.

Snack: Laughing Cow chesse wedge w/2 whole grain crackers. A sugar-free Fudgsicle.

Lunch: 1 lean pocket. 1 cup chocolate soy milk.

Snack: String cheese.

Dinner: Chicken teriyaki skewers again. 1 cup of chopped strawberries with cream.

Snack: 1 cup of chocolate soymilk again.

Snack: String cheese. 1 small pieces dark chocolate.

Lunch: 1 hot pocket, a few fritos, a piece of string cheese.

Snack: Apple. 1 cup chocolate soy milk.

Dinner: Teriyaki chicken skewers -- chicken, red bell pepper, onion, pineapple.

Should have had more veggies today, but I actually had quite a bit with dinner. I need to get back to carrots and hummus for a snack -- it'd help me.

Breakfast: 2 veggie sausage patties, 1 piece of whole grain toast, 1 tsp faux butter. 2 cookies. Sigh -- I really need the boys to eat the remaining two tonight.

Snack: string cheese

Lunch: Forgot. Had some popcorn, though, and a fizzy water. Oh, and a banana.

Snack: didn't have one.

Dinner: Two chicken and sun-dried tomato sausages and a whole bunch of roasted asparagus. Sugar free pudding for dessert.

Evaluation: I need to be having more fruit and veggies. I need to not skip lunch. I need to work more dairy in, and I need to ride herd a little more on the carbs. Thankfully, I got rid of a lot of the carbs I'd bought while on my period, so it'll be a bit easier now because they just won't be here. On the down side, I'm starting to have constant low-level headaches, which means I'm having too much artificial sweetener and getting past my tolerance for it. That bites. Also, I bought chocolate soy milk so that I'll drink it and not use it with cereal.

Not retaining water this morning. Blood pressure is back down to a more reasonable if slightly elevated level. I'll give it one more day with no soda and see if it keeps improving. If it doesn't, then I suspect I also need to change tomato juice brands, as the sodium in that is off the chart for what I'm used to. Luckily I finished off the last of that this morning.

Weight continues to improve -- with some of the water weight gone, I look to be down a half inch total. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean I've really lost it yet -- that's the trouble with water weight. But my body seems to be reacting as though there's a shift going on.

Oh, and I want a cookie. This is problematic. I have these low-carb vegan cookies I bought at PCC, but I don't really trust them. Still. Coooookie. Argh. Maybe tonight after class.

Granted, there are certain monthly issues going on, but the tape measure says I've lost around 1/4 inch around my waist. (I haven't weighed on a scale yet, though I should. A couple more days and I will.) Doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it's nice to see regardless. Oh, and I do so much better when I don't have cereal for breakfast. It's a pain, but even seriously high-fiber cereal just seems to kill me for the rest of the day. So much for that habit.

I'm pleased. Not that I can tell a difference physically, but that I've sort of stopped caring about food. It's not a motivating factor for me right now. Don't get me wrong, really good stuff is still really good, but stuff that I'd previously categorized as "really good" isn't really making the scale anymore at the moment. It's a bit disappointing to try something that tasted good before and discover it's just not doing it for you anymore, but that's probably for the best, right? Right.

Supper last night was not nearly as on-target as I'd planned, but that's okay. Upon review it wasn't as bad as I'd thought. I'm doing pretty well today -- no headaches, no withdrawls. It's a good sign. I even went and got an icon for food stuff. Go me. :)

I'm going to keep the snacks going this time. I know they're only mandatory during Phase 1, but I think that letting them slide when I hit phase 2 last time was part of the problem.

I don't hate drinking tomato juice after all. Apparently it's only V8 that is an abomination unto the earth. Who knew?

In other news, I decided not to go all the way back to Phase 1. I'm not sure that I need to. I'll go back to starting Phase 2 again and see if that will start the process back up. I can always do the two weeks of hell later -- although it won't be nearly so hellish if I've been on Phase 2 for a while -- if it looks like I'm not actually losing weight after all. It'll kickstart things as necessary and I can handle it, but why do that if I don't need to?

Oh, and the lack of sugar/carbs is starting to mess with my head. Stupid headaches.
