Catching up.

Oh my gosh, it's been a while since I've been here (aside from my test post from my iPod, which doesn't count). The past couple of weeks have been somewhat eventful (in a good, entertaining way, not a catastrophic life-changing way for a change).

1) My friend Trey came up from San Francisco for a few days, which then changed into just under a week. We went to see [livejournal.com profile] brannonb a couple of times and played Rock Band and board games (along with accosting the Wendy's Drive Thru at impolite hours, as only either college students or the unemployed can. We also went down to Olympia, where I was able to introduce Trey to [livejournal.com profile] mercuryeric and [livejournal.com profile] gabbicus. In turn, Eric introduced us to the wonders of the Mongolian grill place near his work. That's some good stuff, man.

On the last day of his visit, we went out to Snoqualmie and North Bend, as Trey is a Twin Peaks fan and I couldn't let that particular bit of geekery pass us by. We looked at the falls and the lodge, walked down and back up the trail that leads to the river below (not for the scared of slope or the high of heel, let me tell you), and then off to Twede's Cafe at North Bend for lunch/dinner and pie, naturally. I had the cherry with ice cream, though the lemon meringue called to me. Apparently the cherry is de rigeur, however, so I stuck with tradition. There's always next time. It was quite good (oh, and the fries are fantastic). I was sad when he left, but it was a great visit and we got to catch up a lot. I was also more social than I've been in ages, which is something I'm noting and will have to do something about.

2) I had one phone and one in-person interview last week. The phone interview was for a Community Coordinator position at NCSoft, and I think it went well. The auspicious words "Amy (wherein "Amy" = "HR hiring person") will be in touch with you soon" were uttered. Hopefully I'll get called in for an in-person. It would help if I'd had more time in with their games, but I can't lay out for the Mac version of CoH/CoV right now.

3) I took off last weekend and went out of town on a trip that'd been planned for a while. Saw some friends, met some new ones, got to know the old ones better. It was a great time and I enjoyed it immensely. Of course, the guest room was in the basement and, as I didn't need my purse much, I left it and my phone down there most of the time. Guess what happens to phones left in the basement. That's right, no signal! Which means that they run down their batteries trying to connect to the network, don't get calls, and if they do get calls you don't hear them. Oops. Apparently my mother was trying to get in touch with me and freaked out a bit when she couldn't reach me. At least she didn't call the cops this time. *sigh* Love you, Mom.

4) I started taking my Mega Vitamin D and my blood pressure stuff today. I have a water pill and an aspirin regimen to follow now. I'm a little nervous about how this will affect things (I'm told light-headedness/dizziness and fainting are common at the beginning, since it drops your blood pressure) so I'm going to take it easy at the gym today. Have I mentioned that I hate pills? Because I do. Argh. Someone needs to get off my lawn, I'm sure of it.

5) I have a long-distance boyfriend now. It's not an exclusive arrangement because frankly that would be silly given our various situations and the distance between us (that isn't likely to go away), but it does definitely exist. I can't quite decide what that means, not having had a boyfriend before that didn't proceed directly on to "engaged" and "married," but I think I like it. All is well. :)

So there you go. :) I'll be back more often now, I promise.

We need more details on item 5. Long distance like San Fran (if that was the case...I'm really slow on the uptake) or long distance like Boyfriend In SPAAAAAAAAACE!!!?

[identity profile] anaka.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Not San Fran, no. That would be my friends Trey & Nicole, whom I do love dearly, but not like that. :) No, this is long distance like Ohio. Something like 2000 miles of long distance.

Ahhhh... the "fun" distances.

[identity profile] dvixen.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
As opposed to the "moarfun" distances that include an ocean?

;)

You guys worked out pretty good. :)

[identity profile] innocent-man.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I like it, too. :)

[identity profile] anaka.livejournal.com 2009-02-18 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Good thing, or this would all be terribly awkward. :)

Sounds like good stuff ... my ex and I did the Twin Peaks "tour" when we were coming back from my brother's land out in Omak last year. We apparently weren't as thorough, as we didn't stop for the pie, etc. We did see a bear on the way home, though, so it really was an exciting trip!

I know what you mean about the pills and especially BP ones. I have been taking the water pill for a few years now, but my doc wanted me to take a second one, and he prefaced it by saying something like, "you might feel like you're going to fall over when you get up sometimes, because this can slow your heartrate way down." Um ... NO? That doesn't sound like something I want to mess with. So I guess we may hash that one out on my next doctor's visit.

Anyhow ... I've found the water pill to be not that bad, so hopefully you'll be okay with it before long. It's the least worrisome of all the BP meds, but it can help.

Well now! Congratulations. :)

Aren't you a busy bee!

Good luck on the job.

Woo! Enjoy #5!! :D

Mmm, Twin Peaks cherry pie. [livejournal.com profile] mrsmetallian says Agent Cooper reminds her of me so I should try and pass through there someday. I think that's the only region of the USA I haven't visited, though I will most likely be there for a wedding next fall.
