Last Night:

Left work early because, well, everyone else had or was imminently. Drove home, showered and walked and fed dog, then drove back to the eastside for my dance lesson. This was my first lesson in my new dance shoes, and they were a huge help. I was a bit more slidey in them at first, but I eventually got some control down. After my lesson, there was the practice party. This was the second such party I had attended. The first, two weeks ago, was an unqualified nightmare as my stress level triggered my social anxiety hardcore. I didn't dance at all last time... hell, I was doing well to stay in the room. This time though, I danced at least half the dances, and got a couple of compliments for not sucking quite as much as they'd expect a newbie to. :) Not that it was phrased that way, but still.

Went to Denny's and had unremarkable food with slightly less than average service, which is the high point for their service thus far. Those who want food and a table to do work on at 11:30 at night though can't be too picky.

Today:

Picked up glass projects from Seattle Stained Glass. Some good, some not exactly what I intended, but all a good learning experience. I'll definitely be doing more. From there I went and got a late breakfast at The Rusty Pelican. Just... wow. Fresh orange juice, Dunganess crab eggs benedict with a side of amazingly good potatoes, and a cup of fresh strawberry slices with heavy cream and powdered sugar on the side. Damn. Not entirely healthy, but if that's most of what I eat for the day it's okay, right? :) Made some progress on some proofing I'm doing there as well.

Got home, cleaned a bit, David and boys came over. He helped me bring in the dining room table and chairs I bought at Ikea the other day -- the only one they have that will fit in my kitchen. Ikea, home of the "help, I live in a shoebox and still need furniture" aesthetic. Praise be, man. He took the boys and I out (to Denny's again... kids eat free evening. Such is life, man) and from there we went to the fabric store. David's getting back into the SCA along with some friends of ours, and he'd like to be able to take the boys with him to events. He and I discussed his garb and then boy garb. I'm going to try to get some simple T-tunics and breeches done this next month for the kiddos, possibly along with green Robin-Hood-style hats. They will then promptly get lost, but as long as they're mostly broadcloth and interfacing, we'll live.

Got back and David loaned me his electric screwdriver. He then went home, and I proceeded to put together the dining room table (it's not perfect... sue me) and two of the four chairs. It's a drop-leaf table, so two is all we absolutely have to have with the leaf down. I may post pics if I get around to it. Or, you know, maybe not. :)

All in all, a big day.
