Well, it's been, at this point, over a year since I've gamed. It's been nearly two since my husband's been in a game. And this is after working at a gaming company full-time, in Chicago, one of the largest cities in the nation.

So we moved out to rural Oklahoma, and I'd written off any hope of getting together with a group. And what should happen, but a group finds me. :) We're going to go meet them for the first time on Monday. This is going to be very interesting.

See, the husband and I are the parents of two small boys, both in our early thirties. This group is made up primarily of college-age students, many of them freshmen or sophomores. They have a computer science major, a couple of musicians and some non-college-going people. The group is roughly 8 strong, though only about half of those show up regularly. We will be the oldest people there, probably by at least a decade. At least three of these individuals are women. There seems to be a good ethnic mix among the participants, which is something I've not seen in a while.

My parents are watching the kids while we're gone. We'll be playing a Feng Shui one shot to break the ice. Think happy gaming thoughts for us, especially since we leave for GenCon not too terribly long afterward.
