So, I was in my chiropractor's office the other day, and they have the radio on the local "soft rock" station. While I don't normally wish to be trapped in an Air Supply time warp, there's not much to be done about it while you're face down on the table with a heating pad on your back.
As I lay there, waiting for the doctor to come in so my headache (and related musical pain) would go away, a song came on I hadn't heard in ages and ages. It's total 70s guitar pop. If I had to put a guess as to the title, it would be "Lady" (which turned out to be correct). The harmonies were really good, though, and I found myself realizing once more than I really liked it.
Today I was suddenly reminded of the song, so I went to Google to see if I could track it down. It took some doing, but between that and iTunes I found the artist: Little River Band. Looking at their greatest hits album, I'm suddenly realizing that it comprises most of the songs I actually remember fondly from the radio in that time period, only I never realized it was them. I'm actually pondering buying the album, as otherwise I'll be doomed to only hear them sandwiched between Air Supply* and Elton John while getting my back cracked, and frankly no one deserves that fate.
*Okay, yes, in the interests of disclosure, I did have an Air Supply tape at one time. However, I was 12. The fact that I can still remember the lyrics should in no way be held against me.
