I am sore. I've spent a week fighting off Will's cold and my back issues. I just got back from the most painful chiropractic session I've had in ages, and I haven't slept well this whole week either. I am tired from the ground up, and I'm living off caffeine in a way I haven't done in ages.

On the other hand, some things did get accomplished this week.

1) I managed to get to the scholarship information session at BCC, mostly confirming that there's no way I'm getting money for the spring semester. Thankfully I don't absolutely need money for this semester. I may be able to get some for fall, though. You never know. If I'm going to try, though, I have to get letters of recommendation from people I've worked with or who know me through some professional context as to why I am going to be an excellent student. Yay. On the other hand, free money.

2) Rosie seems to be well. We're still doing her pills, and I've still heard the odd vomitous sound from her now and again, but there's been nothing explosive and she's back on her regular food.

3) We have a new Rosie bed. Her old one was a makeshift clearance sale measure from before she was an official member of the household, and really it was designed for a much smaller dog. Now she has a bed that's much bigger, more of the "large floor pillow" variety. Of course, it's also now too big to fit in my living room, an unfortunate side effect of not realizing quite how large it was. Cleaning and rearranging are in order this weekend. If I can't fit it in here, then it'll go into my bedroom.

4) I saw Ghost Rider on Monday night. It was about what I thought it would be, so I was not disappointed. I've seen worse, and I'm not willing to wish for those hours of my life back. Something went wrong with this film... it was either the writing or the editing, but I really can't tell which. The visuals are great, the acting.... well, isn't terrible, for the most part. Somehow, though, various loose ends were left dangling everywhere. Plot points show up and vanish, exchanges feel clipped.... it's odd. I wish I could see the movie it was supposed to be. Might not be any better, of course, but you never know.

I will probably get around to seeing Ghost Rider, but I've never really had high hopes for it. AFAIK he was never a particularly compelling character and I don't know of any must-read, classic Ghost Rider stories. He is undeniably bad-ass, though...the oldest article of clothing I still own is a Ghost Rider t-shirt from 1991. :)

See, I sorta liked the character back in the day. It's total 70's schlock demon motorcycle rock 'n roll stuff. Regardless of quality of execution (most of which I wouldn't remember at this point anyway from the original comic), reading that one issue stuck with me.

And there's really no way that can be wrong. ^_^

Man, put it like that and he sounds like he should be my next octaNe character...

I saw Ghost Rider while laid up with space plague, unable to do much more than stare at the screen and occasionally moan in pain. And that was pretty much the ideal environment in which to see it, because then it felt like I had little choice. Formulaic superhero movie, which is a shame, because they've gotten so much better.

It could have been a lot better than it was. I have wondered if there isn't an actual movie in the director's cut somewhere.
