So I'm still fighting off the same headache I've had all weekend, but it seems to be a bit better than it was. Today I ran some errands in the morning with the boys before getting some lunch out (tacos) and having a picnic at the Othello Playfield. The boys played hither and yon while I admired the trees and called my mom to wish her a happy birthday. (She had a very nice birthday, as it happens.)

So the boys were hanging out on this gorgeous warm autumn day when I recalled that there were a couple of basketballs in the trunk, and one whole court with no one else on it. I went and got the basketball and the kids and I played ball for a little while. By the end of it, I was shooting hoops like it's been something less than a decade since I last shot baskets, which made me happy. We practiced passing the ball and talked about dribbling and guarding and what counts as a foul and all that sort of thing. I won't be making the Storm team any tim in... well, ever, but it was fun. The kids had a blast, and Will had that particular "Man, my mom can do something I think is cool!" sound in his voice.

I need to get over my idea that this should be a dad-son thing and just go do this more often with the boys. David's never going to enjoy this enough to take the boys out to do it, but I actually do. I think we're going to make Saturdays a "get out and do something active with the boys" day. It'd be a lot better for all of us.
