Aug. 6th, 2002 08:47 amWell, life never hesitates to deal me out a new surprise or two.
See, this weekend I was supposed to take my mom's moving truck (it's for her business, don't ask) and drive it to GenCon, after which I would finally (after a year) get my stuff out of storage in Chicago and move it down to where I live. So last night, the husband and I go over to my mom's store to get thetruck. To get to it, we have to go into this fenced yard with few-hundred pound sliding gate to open.
So David goes to get the truck while I shut the gate so the doggies don't get out. I, however, am an idiot. Instead of simply shutting the gate like a normal person, I manage to roll it over my big toe, half ripping off my toenail and causing much (well, it seemed like much to me) bleeding. I manage to hobble inside and find mom's first aid kit, so I wash it and douse it liberally with antibacterial ointment and slap a couple of band-aids on it.
Sigh. So now I'm going to be limping around GenCon with a mashed and bandaged toe. And I have to get a tetanus shot today. And the truck didn't work anyway, needing to have the battery charged (and new fluids, etc.). And I can't help move anything with my foot like this, realistically, so we'll just be bringing our car. And I'm really annoyed about the whole thing.
Ah well. At least I can still go to GenCon.
