Welp, last night was a last ditch effort to get ready for Xmas and Santa's inevitable visit. Despite a certain ornament-smashing event involving my boys a few nights ago, the subsequent repentance and hurried emails to Santa ensured a trip this evening to make the Santa magic happen once again.

Toys purchased:

1 LeapPad w/ two additional books (for elder son who is just mastering reading)
1 additional book for My First LeapPad (already owned by younger son)
1 80-piece little wooden train set (younger boy)
1 VHS tape of Justice League (younger boy), showing the secret origins of three characters or something like that
2 Harry Potter T-shirts for each boy
1 battery-powered tracked car puzzle set (a bunch of pieces that can be arranged to form a track, on which a little car races around. Sounds dumb, but my kids have played with the one they have all year long. These are expansion sets with new vehicles) for each boy
1 Shrek DVD (younger boy)
1 Harry Potter DVD (older boy)
1 1000-piece set of legos (for the two of them)
2 lego mats, ostensibly one for each which will subsequently be glued to a table we're planning to make.

Add into that the boardgames my parents got for the kids, and I think it'll be a pretty good Christmas. Oh, and a MechWarrior booster for the older and a Heroclix booster for the younger.

In addition, my husband got the Risk: Lord of the Rings game, and I guess I'm getting a cookbook I'd picked out a few months ago to buy for myself. Not really what I wanted for an Xmas present, but life's like that sometimes. It'll all work out. It's not like it's all about me or anything. :)

In addition, we have some lovely mystery stuff from Elissa to open Xmas day, too. I still have to get a present for my niece, and I was hoping to get some more books for my boys, but I didn't find anything I really wanted at the local chain bookstore last night, so that'll be added to the list of possible last-minute purchases.

Oh, and I got to see the Two Towers last night. Liked it very much, even if the only seats we could get in the theater were on the end of the third row from the front. Will attempt more favorable seating at the next viewing. The husband is currently napping due to the late bedtime in hopes of feeling better and actually making progress on his writing, as opposed to writing anyway and then having to delete it and rewrite it after he's rested (and sees the crap he wrote when he was too tired to think). I applaud this plan, especially as he let me sleep in this morning.

Life is good.
