Thanks to the wonder that is IKEA's "as-is" section and a lovely freelance payment that I no longer have to rely on for basic survival, I was able to acquire a nice, comfy sofa for my living room. No more sitting on the floor/dining chairs! Now I just need to get a little TV/entertainment center thingy, a bookshelf or two, and a DVD/movie tower and my living room is mostly set, barring actual accessories like knicknacks and drapes and things -- which are on the list, but after furniture.

I was also able to get the first loft bed for the kids room, so now they're no longer having to sleep together on the little used pull-out loveseat bed thingy we picked up from my landlords. It's functional, but neither of them were sleeping altogether well. Now they are both far more pleased, and both sleeping better. It's a good thing. We're planning to get another loft bed for their room as well, along with a dresser or two and toy bin and TV stand, drapes and maps and art for walls, and then they're set too. My room will be last of all, so it's a good thing I don't mind sleeping on the airbed, but if it means I can be happy in my living room and that my kids are happy in their room, I'm willing to deal with a little bit of a let down in my personal space. It will eventually be dealt with. Will came and told me he loved our house now and he was glad we moved, which was the first time he's said that since we got here. He still misses Grandma and Papa, but at least he's starting to feel at home here as well. I'm pretty happy about that.

At this point, at least, I feel fairly confident that I could have friends over and not feel embarrassed about the poor hospitality I have to offer. Things are still a little rough, but it's not anything I'll feel bad about. :)

Things are good at work (they give me toys to take home!) and I'm really enjoying it there. The kids have settled into school pretty well, and everything seems fine on that end. Alisdair is still acting up a little on occassion, but he's not having nearly so many bad days. Having the new beds will help too, I think, because I believe he'll be more rested now for school the next day.

David's going to be looking for jobs in earnest this week. He's been still doing the email resume bit, but now he's going to be calling up consulting companies and making more personal contact and everything. With luck it'll pan out. As it turns out, my landlords have a little house right behind mine that's a 1 bd, 1 bath that should be finished being remodeled at the beginning of next year or something. We're considering having David move in there. It's a little close in some ways, but then it would be super easy for him to see the kids and for both of us to have our own spaces and start fixing our own lives. It's not necessarily a permanent solution, but it is a solution for now.

Oh! Alisdair got accepted to the Northwest Boychoir! (www.nwchoirs.org) We were trying to find ways that we could generally get more involved around here and come up with some after-school things that the boys could do. One of those things where they take lessons and get to know other kids and develop some interests. So we saw the flyer, and Alisdair loves to sing, so we went and did the audition. We didn't actually expect him to get in (he doesn't have a great ear yet), but he did. If he enjoys it and wants to stay with it, it could be a really great experience for him -- and if Will wants to do it next year, then he could start in too. I know I would have loved an opportunity like this when I was a kid. Even if he decides it's not his thing, at least he'll have had the chance.

I'll post more later. I haven't even touched on our recent Drama, or some of the more amusing stuff to go on (Like Bruce Baugh's game we're going to be playing in). Things are good, though.
