I'm pretty damn disappointed, and I feel utterly disenfranchised by not actually having my vote count for shit -- especially after I checked the King County voting website last night and discovering that I was on the rolls, damn it. But enough of that. I won 't be leaving the country, and I will be trying to get involved with stuff here. Maybe next time it'll make a difference. We'll have to wait and see.

Today the kids went to the dentist for the first time. I know, it's awful that I haven't taken them sooner than that. It's just... well, it's not cheap. The last time I had insurance before this, they didn't have teeth. But now we've been. No cavities, all was well. Alisdair will likely need braces, but I suspected that. There's a good chance Will won't. I got a recommendation for an adult dentist in the same building (they went to a pediatric dentist). Friday I'm going back to a chiropractor for the first time in three years, and with the idea of continuing treatment to get my skeleton back where it should be. My whole body's out of whack, and what with working out and increasing weights, I'm rapidly approaching the point of doing something stupid if I don 't get it dealt with.

My hot water heater apparently stopped working last night. I really missed my hot bath before bed. Not Happy At All. Today we talk to the lovely landlords next door and see how long it might take to get it fixed. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Work continues apace on my special secret project, and I've had some great research lately that's really helped to work out the rough spots I was hitting. It's all good.

Oh, and I can I just, in a totally regional note, what a completely ludicrous thing the whole "recall the monorail" issue turned out to be? I mean, the merits or failings of the monorail aside, I would never have voted for the initiative as it stood. It essentially boiled down to, "you can't use city right of ways to build a monorail. EVAR! It's illegal in perpetuity, through your children's children's children. Nyah."

I mean really. I expected it to say something like, "because it hasn't met some expectations, or was an illegal movement, or just "we recall the initiative" and have done. Instead, it wants to outlaw any monorail in the city. Ever.

Um, no. Just no. Even if I don't like the planned one, my kiddos might one day come up with a fine idea for one.

And the people behind the recall initiative it couldn't understand why it got voted down. Duh.
