I've decided that I want to practice running games a bit, so I'm taking advantage of my access to copies of Dungeon and my kids' general willingness to overlook story concerns in order to rope them into a D&D game. Their father will likely play as well, just to keep their characters alive. The first adventure will be a first-level bit written by my coworker, Jesse Decker. We rolled up characters over Thanksgiving. They are:

1) Lozah, aka "Strong William." He is a lawful-good human fighter with a sword with a dragon on the hilt, a shield with a dragon painted on it, and scale mail with a dragon on the tabard he wears. The dragons, we are told, are gold. He's something of a knight, but it's all sort of fuzzy. He is determined to beat bad guys, though. He has 15s across his physical stats and a good Charisma score. He will be played by William. Lozah is a continuation of our initial false-start at running a game for the kids, wherein my husband GMd and Will's character got a dragon sword.

2) Alisdair's character was next. He decided he wanted to be a halfling sorcerer. Or rather, a chaotic neutral halfling sorcerer who has a good Con score, the Toughness feat, and likes to fight with a staff. His name is Mongor the Mighty. I am somewhat nonplussed by this, but endeavoring to continue unfazed.

3) Their dad's character is an Indiana Jones type priest, who follows an as-yet-unnamed deity with the domains of knowledge and plunder (from IK). He can make scrolls and keep the other two alive, and just be generally silly.

We will probably start play next weekend. I'll report back as news becomes available.
