So much for the high-rolling life of a writer. I have a new computer that should be able to do everything I will need for the next few years, all for the bargain price of $300. It apparently works well. I have to send it back. See, finances have taken a less-than-optimal turn, and that $300 is now completely outside my budget for the forseeable future -- likely until after Christmas, at the soonest. I wasn't really expecting it as quickly as he got it together, but I had still hoped that I could scrape together the funds. I'm quite sure God found these plans greatly amusing. I haven't made the phone call to the guy to let him know yet -- I have to do that tomorrow, as he mentioned that he was running short on rent money too and was happy to be able to sell a computer to help out. I know it'll all get better eventually, but... damn. This sucks.

Called said computer guy. I'm sending it all back as of tomorrow. However, another friend of mine just replaced their G4 with a brand spanking new Mac and has offered it to me, with the clever financing plan of "pay me when you can." I am all verklempt. :)
