I have returned.
Mar. 6th, 2007 05:02 pmWhat do you mean you didn't know I was gone? Hmmmph.
Well, anyway, I'm back. I had a lovely trip to Houston, wherein I saw and stayed with old friends, managed to coexist with cats for a few days without consequences thanks to pharmaceutical intervention, and just generally kicked back. My friends Mickey, Claudia, Michelle, and Steven (the latter two are new and the SOs of the first two, whom I've known for much longer) sat me down and showed me episodes from the first season of Coupling (very fun) and Doctor Who eps starring Captain Jack (cute) along with The Prestige (wow). We didn't get to the David Tarrant episodes, but I lived somehow regardless. We also went to the Alamo theater in Katy, TX and saw Zodiac, which was a really well done film. I don't think it's one that'll live in my library forever, but I'm glad I saw it and wouldn't mind seeing it again with somebody.
Whew. I think that's more movies than I've seen in one sitting in some time. We also went out to eat a lot, which means I finally got to have chips and queso again. Mmmm. Queso. I also got to see Theron and Jane in person again, though it was a touch cold out and we didn't get to talk for nearly long enough. On the up side, though, all the friends seemed to enjoy each others company and exchanged contact information. I don't believe that all my friends need to like one another, but it's certainly convenient when it happens.
We spent the weekend talking about writing and the horror genre and sari fabric and craft stuff and WoW and all sorts of things. I discovered that I'm more attached to Seattle than I realized, because the flat land of Houston seemed foreign to me. I missed the mountains and the sea, and seeing them again felt like home. All the same, things about Houston felt like home too -- I've lived for too long in the Southwest for it not to. I shall have to visit again when I can. It was good.
