That Damn Movie Meme, #8 & #9
May. 30th, 2008 11:33 pm#8. Prince Caspian
I can't tell you how amused I was that I went on vacation without my children, to a weekend wholly filled with other adults, and the movie we went to see was Prince Caspian. I thought it was pretty good, all told. My brain kept filling in bits and pieces with dialog and description that wasn't actually there, but the movie didn't get in the way of that, so I'll live. It was very serviceable, except that they couldn't keep from making Reepicheep and his friends amusing, even at the serious moments. Not sure I can entirely forgive them for that.
#9. Speed Racer -- IMAX version.
Oh. My. Lord. My head still hurts. Thank God it wasn't in 3-D. Urp. The kids thought it was great. I am amazed about how a movie with that many good names in it could end up so "meh." Then again, there's only so much you can do with a property like Speed Racer. When you're stuck with an annoying kid in a beanie and a family chimpanzee, your potential is limited.
