Argh. Head pain.
Nov. 22nd, 2008 01:49 pmSo. Got the kiddos off to their dad's. Forgot to give Al his pill before circus class, and so that was a bit more of a trial when it came to the parts he doesn't like as much. I talked to him afterwards about it. He told me that he doesn't feel like he's any good at tightrope, and that the teacher said "pretend that you're the best tightrope walker in the world," which only made it worse. I asked him why, and he said that a) it was a lie, that he was not the best tightrope walker in the world, and b) that was like something you'd say to a kindergartener. When I told him that he wasn't the best in the world, but that he was just as good as the rest of the class, that's when he perked up and felt more confident. I explained that the teacher was trying to help, and that the strategy suggested does work for a lot of people, so she just didn't understand how he would take what she was saying, and he seemed to be a bit mollified. But yeah. I can always count on the kiddo for a different perspective.
My head hurts... it's been hurting since yesterday afternoon, actually. I gave in last night and put myself to bed early (my youngest "tucked me in") a little bit before the boys. It's kind of nice that they're getting old enough now to do that. Wouldn't want to do it yet on a regular basis, but some nights, like those with pain, it's a definite help.
Lots to do today. Got some dishes done and now I have to plan papers and read source material (and answer belated emails). I've got some tea, and I should get some food soon, but it's hard to be hungry. I thought about stopping and getting food on the way home, but none of it really sounded like food, which probably means I want more expensive closer-to-my-diet food. Or else totally-off-my-diet food, like a Columbia City tuna melt, but that's not as tempting as one might think, really. Or else I'd be doing it Right Now. Maybe for dinner... we'll see.
Oh! And I watched my first movie on my computer the other day... Nero Wolfe, an episode from Season Two. I think I like Season One better, overall, but then I haven't seen most of two, so maybe I'm wrong. This one that I just watched was late period Nero Wolfe... I can't place the period quite, but I think we're into the early sixties, maybe the late fifties. Definitely post war. Not my favorite costuming period, so I didn't enjoy that aspect of the show quite as much. That said, it was still excellent. That might be the cause for my lack of complete enthusiasm, though. If I make sufficient progress today, I might watch another episode as a reward tonight.

Hmm. Headaches induce stream-of-consciousness posting? You be the judge. :)
