1) Turned in the final edited project for my Communications class.
2) Set up a sleepover for my kiddos for the Monday of spring break with one of Al's best friends from school.
3) Got an impromptu phone interview with a recruiter for Children's Hospital (bonus!).
4) Remembered to ask my mom to help out with my insurance payment.
5) Made dinner for my kids (salad and deviled eggs is evidently a favorite).
6) Made arrangements for a day out on Easter weekend with my upcoming visitors. :)
7) Did dishes and moved laundry around in a vaguely useful fashion.
8) Made an appointment for an IEP meeting for Al and got together on a tentative list for chosen middle schools. Have to go enroll him sooner rather than later. Crossed fingers.

Did not:
1) Get anything substantial done on my paper other than asking for an extension. Eeeeeek.

That's it, really, at least on the list of things I really needed to get done today. Did a lot of other stuff, but not that. This may have been an error in judgment on my part. Only time will tell. I hope it all works out and I actually get the damn thing written.

Poem!

Two poems in the space of a year. What the hell?

Beloved
Did you know, when first you set
your foot upon the path
that it would come to this?
When she laughed with you,
sang for you,
put her mouth on you,
shuddered in your arms,
were you on it even then?
Walking into this dark place --
no darker, though, than
where your mind has been --
your voice rises and
life springs forth.
Even light casts a shadow.
The guardian is charmed.
The way is open.
Would sound weep, if it knew?

Seriously. Can someone pick some up at the store for me, for I am totally out. I am nonfocused. I am scattered. I am fuzzy. I am vaguely hurting and very stressed and totally unable to do anything for more than two minutes together. I would take one of Al's focus pills if I thought it would actually help. I am deeply distraught and wishing for something more focus-y-like in the worst way.

I need a hug.

I'm making progress on my paper. I'm happy. I'm taking a break because, well, I've earned one.

I have discovered a possible lack in the world: oatmeal brownies. I don't want a regular brownie (too much fudge and sugar), I don't want plain oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips. I want a chocolate oatmeal brownie. I wonder if you take a regular brownie recipe and add oats to it if that would work? Or if you find an oatmeal bar cookie recipe and add cocoa/melted unsweetened chocolate to it?

I don't know. Perhaps this should be investigated.
