Retrospective...
Aug. 25th, 2009 10:27 pmI've noticed of late that I've lost a lot of the funny, "this is what's going on," "look aren't my kids cute" sorts of posts that I used to make. Part of it is that I'm only seeing my kids on weekends right now, I'm sure, and so I' not privy to as much of their cuteness as once I was. Part of it is also that I'm writing a lot at work and trying to write when I get home, and so a lot of my writing time is taken up with other concerns, leaving me not a lot of interest in writing more for the LJ. Part too is that I seem to be... I don't know. Used up, I guess. When I do post, it seems to be more about stress than about non-stressful things. It's not that I don't have non-stressful things going on -- I do -- it's just that I seem to be lacking the bandwidth to post much about them.
I'd really like to change this. I miss the days when my LJ entertained at least me, much less anyone else.
Some people do a "what am I grateful for" thing to combat this sort of malaise. I get the general gist of it, but it seems forced to me. Also, there are things I'm totally grateful for that I'm never, ever going to mention on here in any sort of a public format. :) Sorry, guys, but the half-life of information on the Internet is eternity--or until media formats change--and that means that a certain amount of reticence is required.
I think, then, that I need to put stuff that I'm just generally amused by or pleased with or interested in a bit more than I have. Yes, I'll still be doing the characters thing, and if I manage to get into a game I'll try to put that up here on a regular basis too. But just stuff in general is going to start making a reappearance in the journal. I can't be all angsty all the time. I'll get bored. :)
