Argh.

Had to take off early from work to go deal with a problem I'd realized last night, in which my oldest son is supposed to have a bus to and from school, but because of a number of issues, he wasn't assigned a transportation IEP in the system.

This means that in the morning they'll pick him up about four blocks from home, which I can be semi-comfortable with. It's not that far and we've walked there before. Coming home, however, they would be dumping him off at an intersection 5.7 miles from the house. Yes, you read that right. In theory it's right on the bus line to my house, so if I felt he was up to it, he could transfer buses. Except that they're going off the old schedule. The 42, the line that runs up to my house, currently runs every half hour--more often during peak times. They're cutting it to every 60 minutes. That could put him up to nearly an hour's wait on his way home, assuming that the bus doesn't run late or he misses it because he gets distracted or isn't sure that's the right one. That is unacceptable.

They say that's as close as they can possibly get to the house without an IEP mandating door-to-door service. There is no way this is remotely acceptable, so off to acquire a transportation IEP I go. It may mean I have to take him to school and/or pick him up from school for at least the first few weeks, though, and given that school starts at 8 AM and gets out at 2:30 PM... yeah. And the job I'm phone interviewing for next week? In Bothell. Hell and gone from here, and that doesn't even consider my school schedule for next quarter.

So not happy about this. It will get resolved, though, oh yes.
