- So as of yesterday, I can hula hoop for longer than ever before. I worked on both arms and waist hooping. Got interrupted doing straight hoop, but I'm getting better at it. Oddly, it's my thighs that feel the burn most. I end up dropping it when they get tired. I'm working on standing up straight when I'm doing it, instead of being bent forward. This is more difficult than you'd think, at least for me, but I'm getting better. It's something to keep working on, in any case. I don't do 10 minutes every day -- this summer has just been too hectic for that -- but I'm doing it pretty regularly. It's not doing any miracle reshaping yet, but I'll settle for gains in strength for now doing something I enjoy.

- Second, I got six of my books for class next week today in the post. I'm hugely excited. :)

- Kids go back next week. I need to get them haircuts again before they go.

- Went to go to the preschool orientation for Cael, so that we know our way around the building to find the child when it's our turn to pick him up. Taking the boys out after that for burgers. Also went out and found the schools they'd go to if they moved here, and a game store close to home within reasonable biking distance, and on the way home (with only a small detour) from school.

- I have a puppy now. He's a 3/4 Chesapeake Bay Retriever, 1/4 Welsh Corgi mix -- which means he's like a low rider Labrador with curly/wavy fur. When he runs around in tall grass, we lose all but his back. He's black with a white star on his chest and white toes on each foot. His paws are big enough to conquer planets, and his ears are large and floppy, while his nose is slim and pointed. He has enough skin to make another one of him, which means that you can sort of stretch him out and then push him back together, like a slinky dog. :) He wants to chew on everything -- darn those puppy teeth -- but he's actually very calm and will stop when told to. We're working on the housetraining, but again, he's making progress. He's figuring out that if he goes and sits by the door, we will notice and let him out -- something neither Sephi nor Leo have really adopted for themselves. He's a very sweet doggie, and we're all fond of him. We've named him Poseidon, dog of the waters, but we call him Si.

Life is good. I'm gonna miss my boys like whoa when they go back, but this summer's been really good.
