So, one of these movies I technically watched before I started the meme thing, but it was new and worth mentioning, so it's retroactively included. Nyah.
#2 -- Mildred Pierce.
Starring Joan Crawford, this noir-esque (definitely ought to be considered noir, even though I don't think it is technically) told the story of a self-made businesswoman who split from her husband and set off to take care of herself and her daughter on her own, and in the process became wealthy beyond the dreams of everyone's avarice except her spoiled-brat daughter and her Playboy of the Western World boyfriend/second hubby. It's a murder mystery on the face of it, and her secretary, Ida, wears clothes that I wish I had. I've not seen a lot of films starring Ms. Crawford -- she's not generally to my taste -- but I found this one rewarding enough. She won an Oscar for Best Actress for this film. The plot seemed familiar to me at points, but that could just be from seeing imitations/influences in the time since.
#3 -- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Starring a young Jack Nicholson, along with Christopher Lloyd's first screen role, a really young Danny DeVito, and other notables. Was showered with Academy Awards. I didn't like it. This is not to say that it wasn't worthy of the awards, for I could appreciate it, but I had to really distance myself from it to do so. I get that the mental health facility was primarily just a background, an allegory for the larger anti-authoritarian tale, but it was very hard for me to make that leap. Even the ending of the ending didn't help. So, very well written and well acted and I hated it anyway. But I saw it. So there.
