This is my brain right now. I seem to have so much stuff going on that I can't focus long enough to get any of it down for posterity. I think "man, I should post to LJ about that" while something is happening, but by the time I get time to do so, three other things have happened and I can't remember enough to post about it anymore. I'd Twitter if the thing didn't annoy me so much -- and honestly, it wouldn't help the problem. It'd just be even more random than I am now.
So, had
dvixen down this weekend. She was my first houseguest in ages and ages... dare I say it, years even. She was totally sweet and didn't freak out that my house was a mess of clutter and Stuff What Needed Doing. She talked me through some of it, and even helped me clear out some of my car! Truly an awesome friend. I don't see her that often, and after she moves I'll see her even less. I'll have to arrange to make a trip Down Under to catch up with her and
eynowd one of these years. :)
Noteworthy Notes of Note:
Oh, and the things I've learned this weekend:
1. Do not mistake origami for "kokigami", regardless of how disarming the illustrations are upon first (BRIEF) glance. VERY DIFFERENT STUFF. The Space Shuttle design is a case in point.
2. Old men in dapper white suits and canes like to offer compliments to young women with strawberry blonde hair.
3. Waiters who treat me like I'm not going to tip them are giving meaning to the phrase "self-fulfilling prophecy."
4. Oh yeah, I don't have air conditioning. Suck.
5. Wiis are super fun. Go me.

Noteworthy Notes of Note:
- On Friday I and my family took part in a research study for autism that searches for genetic links. We all had to answer questions and have blood taken. William tried to be really brave, but freaked out at the end. We ended up having to hold him while they took the blood. Thankfully he forgave us. I have to summon up a suitable reward, like a vacation with the grandparents. This, however, made me late for....
- ...picking up Dvixen, who got in something like 3-4 hours before I made it out to pick her up. She ended up walking from South Lake Union all the way over to Pike Place Market, and stood there for an hour before I caught up with her. My appointment ran over and it was largely unavoidable, but there you go. From there we got dinner at ....
- ... Columbia City Ale House, which was yummy, but the cider I had (given that I'd forgotten to eat for that entire day) ended up giving me a migraine, so we both hit the sack early (she was also sunburned).
- Went to the University District Street Fair on what turned out to be the Hottest Day Evar. It was still fun and all, but neither of us could stomach hot food for the better part of the day. I ended up buying Will a replacement guitar -- one that he could actually learn on and keep -- for a very reasonable price. I was quite pleased.
- Got together with some of my in-town friends from the Aureus game for a nice little potluck dinner and social evening. It was really good to see everyone again, and Tarisse outdid herself in cooking for us, and everyone was very nice to Dvixen, who came along as well. It's always nice when groups of friends mix well.
- Went to the Kubota Gardens and wandered for a couple of hours. Finally got sunburned today because I forgot sunscreen. That's okay, though, as it isn't bad.
- Also went to Jillian's and played a little pool to kill time. It was fun, and cheap because we were there in the middle of the day. Very few people were there then, and it was nice to sort of have the place to ourselves. I will have to remember that for future events.
