The VA hospital rejected my dad on the grounds that he was fighting back when he was first admitted to the short-term care facility. The doc thought he was a psychiatric case. Mom went in and talked to them, though, and it turns out he has "dementia" on his chart, which is different than mental illness and is not a bar to entry. They'll be re-evaluating him on Monday. Let's hope everything goes well.

that is terrible. terrible. terrible. no shit call your senator or congressman. that is F-d up. I know it happens but it shouldn't. fight it. Your dad deserves the best of care, not the worst of bureaucracy.
