Today is prep day. I'm doing huge loads of laundry, filling suitcases, deciding what I must have and what I can live without, based on the space within my car and leaving room for my kids at the same time. As it turns out, we will be making the trip in Hamster. That's right, my 6'5" husband, myself, and my two boys, ages 5 and 6, driving 1000+ miles each way in a Geo Metro over two days. The oil's been changed, the fluids have been checked, and all seems to be right with the world. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to refrain from killing my kids over the course of the trip. I certainly hope so, anyway. It would be a shame to put such a damper on the excursion as a whole.
Alisdair is feeling a bit under the weather, and that's got me a little concerned. Hopefully it'll pass by this evening/tomorrow.
I'm also bringing a huge amount of books with, and will be getting rid of them either in the auction or with Titan Games. Marcus King is a good guy, and it's a heck of a lot more immediate than going the EBay route. It also a few less I'll have to move in July or August when the time comes. Moving less is always good.
I'm really looking forward to the trip. I know I got a chance to get away and do industry stuff in March, but it already feels like forever. I'm so stressed about wanting to move right now that I can barely stand to be in the same room as my family through no fault of their own; it's just that every thing, no matter how little, sets me off right now and triggers waves of "I want to move NOW!!!" Hopefully having a week away from home will help, even with having the kids there and everything.
Anyway.
Elissa, you will be sorely missed. I'm really bummed about missing Strada with you. I can't bring myself to go if you aren't there too. Theron and Jane, I wish you could come as well. It would be awfully nice to see you again. Instead, I guess I'll have to try to make a visit to Houston later this year to see all my friends down there.
Everybody else who's going? I'll see you there on Wednesday. Be safe, everyone.

I don't know if it's really going to come together or not, but I believe Pyske will have a sign, which should help.

Date: 2004-06-21 06:33 pm (UTC)From:We're doing dinner at BD's Mongolian BBQ again this year on Wednesday at 8 if you want to come by.
We're also talking about doing Salla's, I think the place is called, on Saturday night. It's a relatively authentic Japanese sushi and karaoke bar (At least, authentic enough that last time we were there, we were the only non-asians in the place and a large percentage of their laraoke is in Japanese only).
You and David are welcome along for either! :]
