So, in roughly 1 month it will be my birthday. I've spent a ton of years now basically doing nothing for the occasion, baking a cake for myself and otherwise having no celebration to speak of, and I'm tired of it. I live in a place where there are fun things to do now, and I have friends here. I want to spend the evening with them. I'm therefore giving notice.

I don't have a day chosen yet, but my birthday is on the 4th so it'll be somewhere in or around the first half of February. My house is sadly far too small for entertaining of any size (more than 2-3 people + current inhabitants) so I'd probably need an alternative place to have it. I don't want it to cost too terribly much, as none of us are exactly wealthy (especially me) but I'd like to be able to have a good time. Alcohol should be available but not required. Getting to play games of some sort and/or socialize are bonuses.

With the above in mind, anyone have any suggestions about what would be good? I still haven't gotten to go out and look around at entertainment options all that much, so helpful suggestions from the locals are welcome.

If I could...

You are going to have a rockin' birthday. I just know it. I can feel it. Deep down.

:)

Well, typically this hits during the "I'm broke and anti-social" time of the year, so planned events in the past have typically been a bust. Still, new starts, new faces and all that. :)

A bit too far to drive (plus there's a con that weekend and I might have a shot at playing the new Werewolf with one of the authors). But otherwise, you know we'd be there. :-D

I think you should come to Canada so we all can monopolize your time:-)

Hee. You're a sweetie. I am actually working on getting my documentation together to get a passport so I can go to Canada easily, but Its a slow process, hampered by my inability to remember things for two days running.

Heh. You are hereby ordered to go to the con and game in my honor. :)

I'm fairly local but you wouldn't know me from Adam (well...maybe from Adam Jury but not "Adam")

Anyhow, the wife and I should get you something as a housewarming/ birthday gift at least. It's tough moving cross country. I've dragged my wife all over from Wisconsin and back (a few times...about to go again) and we know...it sucks.

Hope you have settled in here in the PNW. There will be a lot to do once things warm up a bit.

Cheers!

Over the weekend I figured out what your birthday present is going to be, but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to get it together before the actual date. I'll give it a try, though.
