Well, in an effort at diagnostics, we switched the memory in my computer for David's computer's memory (also to find out if mine owuld accept the higher speeds). The good news is that it will. The bad news is that the errors that were crashing my system stayed with mine, and in fact have only increased in frequency. All signs point to a motherboard/processor problem, which means a new computer after all. It tends to crash after about 20 minutes of running with errors that range from BIOS problems to memory faults, all ending with the hideous dark blue screen of death and a death spiral of rebooting and then locking up completely, and then turning itself off for good.
We won't be getting a new computer until we get a paycheck for David. We'd hoped that would be on the 15th, but there's still no sign of any official paperwork for it, so we're not counting on it. Otherwise it'll be the end of the month. Ergo, I may not be around much on weekends and evenings for a while. My apologies to anyone I might inadvertantly disappoint in this manner (Monday night group, I'm looking at you). I'll get it fixed as soon as I can.
