So today I got paid AND I got freelance money! Last night I paid off my electricity bill and got my credit card in order, and today contributed to the "catch up on daycare" fund. I'm treating us to dinner out, then I'm getting a bunch more bill payments done. Tomorrow I'll get some maintenance done on my car, which should finish up the needed repairs except for the speedometer cable. When all is said and done, I should even have enough for a small splurge--or perhaps I'll put it aside for GenCon. *grin*

In addition, my long-awaited parcel from Gohastings.com arrived with half my order. This includes (for [livejournal.com profile] thorn's benefit), hardcover editions of both The Hero and the Crown and The Blue Sword, along with softcover of A Door in the Hedge. All by one of my favorite authors of all time, Robin McKinley. Oh, and Water, a collection of short stories by Robin McKinley and Peter Dickenson. Add on Mirrormask, the hardcover illustrated (by Dave McKean) script for the upcoming movie written by Neil Gaiman, Gaiman's 1602 hardcover collected graphic novel, Wicked, the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, and Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss, and I am one happy camper. Oh, and there's even a practical book in there, Parenting Your Asperger's Child by Sohn and Greyson--which even after a very cursory flip-through has shown me something new about Alisdair and about Asperger's. I have a feeling it will prove very valuable.

And, as if that weren't enough, my copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince shipped out today as well. As, apparently, did all the movies I'd also ordered, including The Emperor's New Groove, Nero Wolfe--The Complete First Season, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, and The House of Flying Daggers!

AND I got comp copies from FanPro, something that hasn't happened since long before I moved! I'm all agog!

I will have to go into work this weekend to finish up a couple of things for the Monday deadline, but they're minor things. I am very, very happy, and all is right with the world for the first time in a long time. I got lots of pressies and, to borrow an old Brit phrase, am quite chuffed. The stressbasket is being unpacked, and August 1st is only a couple of weeks away. Everyone, go give yourself a hug from me. :)
