So I went out on my own this evening. Yay me! I went to a billiards and bowling place and played pool for a couple of hours, just practicing. The first game took for frickin' ever, working from the 1-ball down to 15 in order, with anything accidentally suck put back on the table, but the second game was better--at least until the end, where I just suddenly could Not. Hit. Anything. I did eventually sink the last two balls, but I swear it took me about a quarter of the time it had taken to sink everything else. It was fun. It's only taken me *mumble mumble* months to get comfortable with doing this, of course, but better late than not at all. I think I might try a different place next time, though, as apparently this one didn't have a bridge available... which sucks. I got around it by forcing myself to do bank shots whenever I couldn't reach for the shot I wanted, but that really rather sucked, all things considered.
Current billiards skill rating: does not entirely suck, but wouldn't exactly call it "good" yet, either.

Date: 2006-06-10 08:37 am (UTC)From:Our old conversations used to go something like this:
Me: Do I want to pick A or B? Be arbitrary for me.
David: B.
Me: Hmmm.
David: Doesn't sound like B is popular.
Me: True. A it is.
It works surprisingly well. Also, if we all took all the advice we were given, it wouldn't be called "advice." It would be called "instructions" or something similar. :)
