Or San Francisco. Or something.
So, yes. Home again. Got home and... Damn! Who left all this snow just laying around! You're supposed to sweep up after you're done playing! Darn kids.... :) The flight back was just fine. I slept lots, which is unusual for me on a plane. David picked me up since he was home with the boys today (it's a snow day, go figure) so I was spared the joy of cabs on icy roads. The number of vehicles scattered about on even the short trip between the airport and home was.... well, sad, really. I totally get the slick hill thing, but this wasn't even that. Ah well. I'm glad those of you who had to deal with this crap made it through okay. *hugs to all*
I had a good holiday. We didn't go do much, really -- my friends who were gracious enough to host me had a car issue explode into a bill of epic proportions while I was there, so that curtailed activities somewhat. My hosts have recently acquired a pair of very cute rats, Widget and Gizmo, who are living the high life in a 3-level rat condo with spa. The list of weekend accomplishments is as follows,
- An additional 8-9 inches completed on my scarf. No, it's not done yet.
- An impromptu phone interview for a job -- I'm not getting it, but I am getting some local freelance out of it. Go me.
- Having a Mii (avatar) made for me on their Wii. Did you know that if you play baseball on the Wii Sports game, it will populate your team from the Mii's you've made? When you make ones that resemble and are named after all your friends, it gets a lot more entertaining. Note to self: Never, ever purchase stripey pants and matching shoe covers.
- Played... um, lots on the Wii. Trey had Wii Sports, Red Steel, Trauma Center, Rayman: Raving Rabbids, and Zelda: Twilight Princess. I played the sports game, Rayman, and Zelda, settling for being an observer on the others. I am so sold on this console. It was all just a tremendous amount of fun, and led to the realization that I'm right handed, but my left-eye is dominant -- apparently the Wii triggers my same inclination that I have in RL to bat and golf left-handed. I am greatly amused. I'm not buying any new consoles anytime soon, but when I do, I think Nintendo will be getting my money.
- Trauma Center has the worst dialogue EVAR!!!!!1!!one1!1!!!. Just... wow. Okay, maybe not ever, but certainly that I've seen in some time. Given that half the game is "medical procedures" and half of it is soap opera, you have to appreciate really bad dialogue to get the most out of it. The gameplay seemed pretty good, although its requirements were a bit too specific at times, given the nature of the Wii controller (versus the stylus for the format in which the game originally appeared).
- Watched the following movies: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (yes,
mercuryeric, I loved it -- you were totally right), The Last Unicorn, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and.... wait for it... Zardoz. Well, it wasn't so much watching Zardoz as inflicting it on an unsuspecting friend, but still. Well worth it just to see the look on his face, really -- and to marvel again at Sean Connery's true acting chops, because anyone who can even remotely act with a straight face while wearing a braided ponytail, an orange diaper with a bow in front, matching bandoliers and hip boots deserves some sort of accolade.
- Finished the first season of Buffy and watched the first episode of the second season. I am still not convinced that it does not suck, but it seems to suck somewhat less now than it did. I will watch the second season and see where I stand on it at the end.
- Went shopping and bought stuff I need for LARP and dance dress. Convinced Nicole to buy the absolutely stunning chiffon pants for her holiday party, then gave her extra discount cards I couldn't use with which to purchase them. In retaliation, she took me shoe shopping where I found a lovely little pair of strappy black dress shoes with a kitten heel that look fantastic with the new skirt I bought -- on sale for next to nothing, no less! Go me. Still not the prettiest, but much, much closer. V. good.
- Got new earrings and necklace to accompany the former outfit, which, if perhaps not a perfect fit for my character, look totally great on me. :)
So I think that hits the high points. Oh, and Rosie has finally calmed down enough to sleep somewhere other than on my feet. This is a great boon. : ) Glad everyone seems to be well and safe after the holidays, and it's good to be home.
