I'm home now. It's New Year's Eve, but despite my earlier ideas about going out this evening and possibly dancing, I'm both too broke and too exhausted to contemplate it. During my vacation, I:
I think I need a vacation from my vacation, because it darn sure felt like work. :)
Rosie is back with me and quite well. I cannot possibly express my gratitude to Nicole, Chris, and Kate for keeping her over Christmas. Rosie and I both thank you so very, very much. I bought her a rawhide chew and a can of super-nice canned food to celebrate New Year's Eve, and she's now well fed and snoozing a couple of feet away, having devoured both food and chew. The boys are with David along with their Christmas hauls, and they seemed quite happy to see their dad and to be back in Seattle -- a reaction I've waited to see from them since we moved, and one I'm quite pleased about. Moving was so hard for them both, but now they can go visit their grandparents and have a great time and still be happy to come back. I guess things have come out okay.
Did some freelance.- saw EVERY member of my family with the slightest interest in myself and my kids (and rediscovered that some were quite cool).
- Saw my ex-SIL and her family and had a nice visit despite the unseasonable tornadoes in Texas (what the hell was up with that, anyway) which caused an unplanned sleepover in Plano.
- Sorted through EVERYTHING David and I had left behind that had not yet shipped out here, including clearing my parents' warehouse of very nearly all my stuff -- I think I have something like 3 boxes of sorted books and my great-aunt's steel turkey roasting pan left there. You don't want to know how many bags and boxes went to Goodwill. Talk about charity in the holiday season... I hope someone can use the stuff. Everything that's left is stuff that's definitely being kept and shipped, though, and it'll all fit into my old bedroom and still let me use it when I visit.
- Looked up the Oklahoma League of the Blind for my mom so that maybe she can get a bit of stuff going for my grandfather, who's 96 next month and can't see to speak of anymore (but still shovels snow and mows his lawn -- he drives my mom crazy).
- Survived having only my mom's dial-up internet connection for two weeks. Mom, I love ya, but that nearly put an end to me altogether. :)
