I've been watching this show fairly faithfully since it began. I missed the last couple of weeks, though, so I was pleased to learn they were on this evening. Of the two episodes:

Walls: I was prepared for this to be pretty weak, but really it was quite possibly the strongest one yet. Terrence Mann is an incredible actor -- too good for a Sci-Fi show, frankly, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Storm Front: I've been looking forward to this one since the beginning of the series, as it's the adaptation of the first novel. Now that it's here, though... I'm not as fond of it. No Bob. I don't give a damn about Dresden's cat, who is finally here. I find myself primarily interested in seeing the continuity between this and other episodes, but not so much in the episode itself, which disappoints me. It's not bad, mind you.... I just like the others better. This was evidently the first one filmed, and as such there are continuity issues between this and the rest of the episodes. I find them pretty jarring, unfortunately. I'll live through it, though.

Over all, I'm really happy with the series. I hope they pick it up for next season. :)

I've been pleasantly surprised by The Dresden Files thus far. The show isn't the book, but it holds up really well.

If you like this show, you might want to try Blood Ties, based on Tanya Huff's Vicky Nelson urban fantasy/detective novels. The books are quite good and the series is damned good, from the first two I've seen.

Just don't tell anybody that I'm watching a show that airs on ...er... the Lifetime network.

(I'm so ashamed.)

Ah, yes, Lifetime: Television for Women... and Gay Men. ;-)

Bad boyfriends and quirky grooming tips are universal. This explains not only the success of Lifetime but most Country and Western music as well. :p

I liked this episode better than the previous one, specifically because it seemed more "Dresden" like for me. But I want the best of both worlds. I want the basement lab and the ring in the floor /and/ Bob. I want magic (my gods, some of the earlier episodes were almost entirely magicless, and I love the runes in the effects on this one) and Mister. I want the blue beetle (why the hell did Murphy find Dresden in the auto shop and yet they don't explain /anything/ about why he was there? I want Mei and Morgan to be at least a little hostile and suspicious, I want Susan (but please don't let her teeter over the edge into ditzy blonde... please, oh please!) I want the NeverNever and the quips that made me love Dresden in the first place. I want Murphy to be incredulous, and I want technology to screw over Dresden.

I want it all! :)

Heh. I've now seen the inner workings of Microsoft and how big money handles IP. I'm just happy the writing's pretty good, Harry's still a wizard, and that the supporting characters are more or less the same. Anything beyond that is gravy.

I also honestly don't care so much about big magical effects. They're fun, don't get me wrong, but I know they're also expensive. For the first season, I'll live with them skimping on it. If they can't pick up the special effects budget down the line, though, I'll be more inclined to complain.

My entire familiarity with the IP came from listening to most of the two books available as audiobooks. Stormfront was not one. Fool Moon and Grave Peril maybe? Due to technical difficulties I haven't actually finished listening to either, but enjoyed them alright, Grave Peril most. So, imagine my surprise to find that I was really cranky when Susan Rodriguez appears as some blond chick.

I'm enjoying the show alright, all things considered. I think it's off to a better start than Buffy or Angel in their first seasons.

Great, just great... now you've doomed it to cancelation! ;P
