eurydicebound: (accident)
So my last day at my current job is Friday. Due to a comedy of errors, the following things are true:

1) I still don't have a start date.

2) I will likely not even know whether or not the position has been approved until the 31st (and even then it's more likely to be "know if they've decided not to create the position," not "know if all systems are go." Knowing anything in a positive direction will likely take longer).

3) There's an unfortunately good chance that this position I was being "promoted" into will not come to pass after all, at least not at this point in time.

So in return for being very good at my job and impressing people left and right for two years, I will be unemployed as of the end of the week with no set prospects to speak of, and nothing I can really do about it until the end of the month, tops, on the off chance the situation will right itself. Not to mention that it's now the holiday season and no one is hiring writers/editors right now anyway. Oh, and the other job I'd interviewed for, that I didn't get because I was a much better fit for this one (though by no means a bad fit for that one) has already been filled, so I can't even go that direction.

Irony, thy name is unemployment. Bloody hell.

Hopefully not currently, but more as a retrospective view, right?

I can likewise say I feel your pain. Luckily not currently, but there are certain pains that do leave a lingering effect and this would be one of them. It's the same way a broken-and-mended bone will let you know when the weather is changing.
