So last Saturday I gathered up the kidlets and we all took off for Remlinger Farms, out by Carnation, WA. It was a toss up between there and Maris Farms, finally decided by the fact that Remlinger Farms definitely had real bathrooms available and Maris Farms only mentioned porta-potties. None of us are thrilled by the use of portable toilets, and my youngest would rather hold it indefinitely and pitch a tantrum than use one of those, so utility and permanent hygiene facilities won out in the end. Romantic, no?
Anyway, off we go. We finally arrive after taking an accidental side trip to Snoqualmie Falls and find parking and whatnot. Remlinger Farms has you pay to get in, but once you do everything else is covered short of food. We then spent the rest of the day going from ride to ride, starting with a very nice pony path and well-cared-for animals (no being tethered all day and made to walk around a short dirty circle here), then to playing on and in old firetrucks and schoolbuses, and then on the minitrain with the working replica steam engine. They had a not-so-scary haunted house (which still spooked the kids mostly with just it being dark and having noises come on unexpectedly), a moon bounce, old pioneer farm exhibits, a petting zoo, a mini rollercoaster and some other kid-friendly carnival rides, a big rock-climbing wall, a hay maze and hay jump, and pedal go-carts. That doesn't count the corn maze or the U-pick pumpkin patch, neither of which we actually made it to.
The food was good, if a little pricey, but the caramel apples and kettle corn made on-site with fresh apples and such were fabulous. I wanted to purchase some produce and maybe a frozen pie to bring home, but by the end of the day, we didn't have enough time to shop anymore. We bought a couple of pumpkins, sticking to ones small enough that the boys could each carry one, and came home. All in all, it was a very good day and I'd highly recommend the farm and play area to anyone with little ones (and the farm restaurant and its produce to those without kids as well).
