Drama!!!

Okay, so I did mention the drama post.

See, the other night David and I had put the kids to bed and we were working late on some various freelance stuff. This was last Friday night, I think. So there we were. I was already in my jammies and feeling comfy, when right outside our window there was this loud BRRRRRRTTTTT!!!!!! sound.

Needless to say, this was a tad alarming. There was no question but that something or someone was in our driveway (which is right next to our living room window) and that something was going on. David turned off the light and slipped over to the window to look out -- and lo and behold, there were cops in our driveway!

So he gets his shoes on and goes outside while I stay in and look over the scene from the window. There were two street-dressed guys down in the driveway, face down on the concrete, while two or three cops looked on and cuffed them and such. David went out to see what was going on and was asked to stay back, which he did. More police came in a car with the searchlights going and stuff, and then took off after someone. The policemen talked to David a bit and then they hauled off the men in cuffs and everything was quiet again.

As it turns out, the individuals in question were two parts of a trio who had been allegedly in possession of a stolen car not minutes before. The two had abandoned the car when the cops began chasing them and started running through yards and bushes and whatnot in an effort to lose their pursuers. They got caught in my driveway because they tripped over some small pots/planters between my driveway and my neighbors. The police were right behind them, and as there's nowhere to go from my driveway but back to the street, they got caught. Tasered, in fact, hence the loud BBBRRRRRTTTT!!!! The third individual had remained in the car and taken off, prompting pursuit.

So. Now we make sure that we remember to lock our car before going in the house for the evening. :) Not that Hamster is a huge target for theft, but it never hurts to add that extra impediment, you know? My neighborhood is nice, but there are areas not too far away that aren't, so... I'm definitely living in the big city now, I guess. Drama!!!

Oh, in other drama, I dreamt that I was fighting in the military for some reason, and my unit got hit by a biological or chemical agent. We couldn't figure out what it did, but it was feared to be very nasty and contagious. There was no where we could be contained safely, so our unit volunteered to be killed so as to save the people we loved. So I was shot, and died. The thing is, I didn't pass on to an afterlife or oblivion or anything. I became a ghost, hovering over my body and unable to go anywhere else. This was very unhappy making, and so eventually I found my way back to my home because I had nowhere else to go. I then proceeded to haunt David and the boys... they could see me, but no one else could. I loved them so much, and I couldn't touch them or be with them... it was miserable. I even started to get jealous when they'd do things without me and get all poltergeist-y. It was a horrible, horrible dream, and I woke up in tears with this overwhelming feeling of loss and aghast at how easy it would be to turn into this monster that could hurt them. Blech. And I still remember it all clearly, even though it's been days since then. Maybe it needs to be a story.
