Ramblings about dance stuff
Aug. 2nd, 2006 12:02 amSo i've gotten past the "Arthur Murry, six lessons" level of dancing, by and large. I get the steps and can follow passably well, and I've even got rythym on occasion. I still screw up now and again on sort of basic things, but I can tell there's improvement. I'm now on the "bronze" level of lessons, which means you start learning things like proper style and posture and foot placement and hip movement and whatnot. Tonight was my second bronze-level lesson, and we worked primarily on the tango, a dance I didn't touch on in my previous set of lessons because to me it's intimidating as all hell.
Oh dear God, am I sore.
I swear, if I can keep losing fat, I'm going to have the most ripped back muscles ever. Dear lord, did I get put through the wringer tonight. I'm not really complaining, as if I weren't going there to learn and get better, I wouldn't be going at all at this point. I'm just... damn. I think my favorite dances thus far are salsa, cha-cha, rumba, foxtrot, waltz, and the various types of swings. Which is most of them, yes. Tough. I actually got a compliment from another student about my salsa dancing, which was awesome. Given that the last time I danced it, I was partnered with crazy-good instructor guy, it gives me some hope.
Anyway, yeah. Sore. Tired, too. My house is all but completely clean now, though, at least in the main rooms. Given how tired I am, that will have to do. Mom and Dad will be in town tomorrow, and they'll see it all then anyway. Not as though they haven't seen my living spaces messy before. :) They've still managed to love me, so I think we'll all cope.
Okay. I'm off to bed. Talk to you tomorrow, everyone.
