May. 6th, 2007 03:20 pm1) School. Midterm group project paper done -- well, at least my part of it. I'm a day late handing over the paper's first draft, but that's because I had to write most of it roughly three times over in order to make the mental shift from what my brain wanted to write to what my group chose as a thesis. And it's not that it was a bad thesis. It's just not where I would go with the analysis given my druthers. Now I have something like 30 pages of history book along with 4-5 lectures to read, so that I can write a 250-400 word analysis essay for tomorrow.
2) Financial crap. Nuff' said.
3) Kiddos. David's at drill this weekend, so aside from yesterday evening, I've had them most of the weekend. I was originally going to go out and do stuff with them this weekend, but money intervened. Instead, we went over to my friend Tarisse's new apartment and saw her (which had been weeks since she and the kids saw one another -- she's their unofficial auntie, for which I adore her). Today we've stayed home. They've watched some cartoons, played in the yard a bit, and we had today's cooking lesson. Egg salad. We had our first knife/chopping lessons (boiled eggs cut with a butter knife... if it gets safer than that, I don't know how). We learned what "to taste" means and that different people make stuff different ways. We learned the core ingredients of egg salad and in roughly what proportions to mix them, and how adding a lot of mayo at first is usually a bad idea. The boys had a great time, Alisdair got to have sweet relish in his egg salad, and hopefully they've gained a skill. We didn't cover boiling eggs, but we're not using stoves yet. That'll probably happen later this summer.
4) Romance. A friend has been hit by the matchmaking bug and has started plotting to get me and this guy from her work together in enough social situations that we have a chance to hit it off. Met the guy last night. Seems smart, relatively cute, and had a nice smile. I could do worse, and will thus consent to be included in the matchmaking process. :)
