[livejournal.com profile] amanofhats's post about his search for a cake made wholly of pie has prompted my own creative ideas. I came up with this idea when I was watching Top Chef last season, and they did the episode where they came up with a seven-course meal based on the Seven Deadly Sins. Naturally, lust was done as a dessert. Unfortunately, the chef who did it had no idea what lust or sensuality actually were and missed the mark entirely. I came up with this idea in place of what they made, and although I'm unsure about all the execution of it, I think it could come out pretty well. You guys can offer comments or suggestions if you think it could be made to come to pass.

1) Get a bunch of fresh, ripe strawberries.
2) Hull them and hollow out the centers.
3) Mix up some sweetened marscapone cheese so that you have a cheesecake-esque mixture -- it will need to be sort of stiff and able to stick together at the end.
4) Obtain some black chocolate paste (or else make a sort of fondant using high-cocoa dark chocolate -- you could possibly throw in a raspberry or orange liquor as well, but that's all very theoretical -- it should be edible but still on the bitter side
5) Roll up thin lines of the chocolate mixture. Take those and roll them into the marscapone so that the chocolate is in the center of this tube.
6) Stuff the cheese/chocolate mixture into the hulled strawberry.

At this point, I'm unsure. Part of me wants to dip the strawberry in something, but more chocolate would be overkill and would mask/clash with the chocolate inside. I'm sort of tempted to coat it with maybe a thin shell of hard candy, glazing it that way. Cinnamon is the first thing I'd thought of, but maybe some sort of spicy strawberry flavor mix would work as well. You'd get the spicy crunch on the outside, with the firm sweet/tart flesh of the fruit, then followed by the rich cheese and the bitter, glorious chocolate, tempered by everything else.

If that's not a nice food metaphor for lust, I dunno what would be.
