Go Bulldogs!
Jun. 9th, 2008 01:18 amWill's Little League team, the Bulldogs, played their first post-season game today. They won a total of two games during the season, so we were all frankly shocked they made the playoffs. As it happened, we were 4th in the district. I guess that says something about the frequency of wins in the rookie age division. :) Anyway, we all expected that they'd lose today -- uniform turn-in was scheduled, the end of season cookout, all of it. But damned if they didn't win, 6-5. Will was even the winning run, and later in the game he hit the ball -- really hit it -- for the first time this season. Now they've got another game on Wednesday at 5 PM, which is also when I was scheduled to get my haircut. So much for haircuts, I guess.
This was a pretty good weekend, all told. My foot is better (I'd hurt it Memorial Day weekend climbing a steep hill in bad shoes), my headaches have become less intense (possibly weather triggered? who knows), and I got a ton done. Will and Al helped me with the yard somewhat... we planted tomato plants and weeded around one of the rose bushes. I got the bolt for Will's scooter finally, so I can put that back together in time for summers at Kids Co. I bought a ton of Red Heart acrylic yarn to donate for arts and crafts at Kids Co (and on a gift card, so it was effectively free!!!), and I got a lot of grocery shopping done. I even bought books -- some for me, some for Al, and some for Will. Al got the first three books in the Warriors series, Will got an additional three in the BeastQuest series, and I picked up the first three Anita Blake novels for a work project.
I didn't do anything I'd planned on doing, unfortunately, but the stuff I did get done was worth doing. I am well pleased. Go me.
