South Beach, Day 10
Sep. 10th, 2008 12:03 pmMenu
Breakfast: 2 deli turkey slices, one slice swiss cheese, handful of cherry tomatoes. Cinnamon tea.
Morning snack: 1 wedge laughing cow cheese
Lunch: Cobb salad w/ grilled chicken breast -- way more than I should have eaten, and there was still half left. Geez. Forgot and left the bacon on. Oh well.
Afternoon snack: Too stuffed to have one. Ended up having 1 piece of hard candy, which means I should have had one, but didn't. Bah.
Dinner: Went to a PTA meeting where they were giving out pizza for dinner at around 6 PM. Was feeling the lack of snack by then and hungry too, so had dinner with the boys there. Ate 1/2 slice of cheese pizza (only 1/3 of the crust), roughly 1/2 cup of broccoli florets, 1/2 cup of grape tomatoes, 1 tbsp peppercorn ranch dressing, 1 sandwich cookie (the shame!). And then one a couple of hours later towards the end of the meeting when they were out of everything else and I was starting to crash. Should have resisted the pizza (or at least not eaten the crust), but such is the way of things.
Dessert: Realized by 9:30 PM that I was snacking on a handful of breakfast cereal (an old bad habit of mine), I went ahead and got a bowl of plain Greek yogurt with agave nectar drizzled over it. It cured the carb craving, which was what I desperately needed to have happen. Probably didn't need the calories, but I did need to stop snacking.
Things I Have Learned (I refuse to use the term "Learnings")
1) Bad carbs give me cravings. Craaaaap.
2) No more crappy cookies for me. If I'm going to break from the party line, I'm going to do it for something worthwhile, damn it. They weren't even that good. I had 2 on my plate originally but gave the second away because the first was just so sweet to me. Gah.
3) Have to plan ahead for PTA stuff. I can't just muddle through the day until I'm presented with either letting my blood sugar crash and feeling crappy or eating stuff I know I shouldn't have. I've got the workday mostly down, but the extra-curricular stuff (can one be a circus mom? Hmmm) may kill me.
