So this has gotten a bit spotty, but that's okay. I'm still pretty much on track. It's now five weeks since I started, and 3 weeks since I got to Phase 2.

Breakfast: Kashi Go Lean! cereal, vanilla soymilk, 1/8 cup dried cherries.

Morning Snack: White Rose tea, no sugar.

Lunch: Spicy teriyaki, lettuce salad, brown rice. 1 fortune cookie.

Afternoon snack: 1 oz bittersweet chocolate (just less than, actually).

Dinner: Beef stew (no potatoes), 1/2 cup 100% whole wheat egg noodles. 1 slice multigrain bread.

Dessert: honeycrisp apple.

So I'm a little heavy on grains today, but I was a little shy on them yesterday (and a bit light on fruit today). Overall though, I'm still pretty close. I'm now at 5 weeks with no sodas -- I admit to enough weakness that I have tried it once or twice, because when I'm low on energy or feeling rundown, my brain says "that will fix it!" because it's what I used to do to fix it. But after a sip or two, I am reminded that no, that doesn't work any more, and then I pour the rest out. I haven't had more than 3 oz of Coke in any given week since I started, and usually far less. I figured if I only have three sips, it doesn't count as an actual soda -- especially since the average serving these days is somewhere between 12 and 20 oz, not counting ice.

Results thus far: Body measurements continue to come down. I've now lost 3 inches total off my waist (and 2-3 inches off my torso as well -- I'm discovering I may need to buy new bras soon to accomodate a changing band size). I haven't weighed myself (I totally spaced my gym appointment today and thus missed my weigh-in), but I know that I'm down. I wouldn't be seeing these numbers on the measuring tape if I weren't.

Also, I evidently look different. I got carded this weekend when I ordered a cider (not to mention "hon"'d and "love"'d to death by a waitress who is guaranteed to be younger than me), and I've been getting a noticable amount (to me) of attention from guys in passing -- lots more greetings, lots more checking in with me, a heightened level of "customer service," as it were. Today a random guy on the street made eye contact with me and said "hi," and I didn't start it. That's not something I've had happen to me in some time, so I can tell there's a change. Even my kiddos tell me they see a difference.

Oh, and the pants, they no longer fit so well. I'm back down into my 16s again (which is good), but I've got one 18 that was smaller that fits loosely but comfortably, and three pairs of jeans that pretty much hang on me. They were on the "loose fit" side of things at size 18, much less now. I'm not sure how or when I'll be able to replace them, unfortunately, so for now we make do.

Oddly, I'm having a lot more in the way of headaches and ocular migraines. I've even had a start to an aura, but it shows up malshaped or just appears briefly but doesn't go through the whole pattern the way it usually does. It could be the weather changing, or an allergy, or something food related... who knows. I'll be keeping an eye on it to see if I can find the triggers, but for now it's something just to keep an eye on.
