Hallowe'en
Nov. 1st, 2008 01:54 amSo. My plans for a Kaylee costume fell through, thanks to lack of time and money and general get-up-and-go-ness. Midterms will do that to you. Instead, this morning, I realized I needed a costume for work and set about grabbing stuff. 30 minutes later, one gypsy emerged and went into work. I think I wore more jewelry today than I have in the three years previous combined.
Then after work, I came home and changed. I then needed to come up with a costume for the party that a co-worker was having, which had a space theme. Again, Kaylee was not an option, so I dressed up in my brown fishnets, denim mini-skirt, heels, a blue tank top and brown sweater, along with a tinfoil hat and charming matching wrist bracelets. I also made three signs, which I switched among over the course of the evening: "Welcome alien overlords," "Spaceman, take me away!," and "Mi planet es su planet." Yes, I was a space groupie. It was all very fetching, I'm sure.
The party was fun, but a bit unnerving at first. Tehre were a lot of people there, and while I knew a number of them from work, I didn't know them well. I didn't have a date so it was just me, and I fear my mingling skills are a bit rusty. But then they started up karaoke, and I got to sing, and once I stopped shaking from nerves, it went quite well. I got a lot of requests to sing and compliments, which was wholly unexpected, but very nice.
The boys went trick-or-treating with David tonight. I'll see them tomorrow (another reason I made sure to go out tonight). I'll doubtless have more information about that then. Anyway, happy All Hallow's Eve to you all. :)
