Asking for leads.
Jun. 14th, 2009 05:28 pmMy ex-husband is in trouble. He and his new wife (complete with baby girl due to be born over July 4th weekend) just found out their roommate is moving out next month. They are both unemployed, and that means they can't really make rent on where they live. They've had no luck finding jobs since February and were already looking at deciding whether or not they'd have to move this fall, possibly heading to California where her family is. This turn of events has accellerated the timeline significantly. He now has two weeks to come up with some sort of employment or move out of state, likely to southern California where her family lives.
I'm not asking for a recommendation. I am, however, asking on behalf of him and my kids that if someone knows of an entry-level programming job, primarily using C or some variant thereof or possibly Java (javascript, etc), could you email that to David at scruffyrogue AT hotmail dot com? Contract work, whatever it is, it's sufficient. He has a programming degree, but no experience with it yet -- he was working for the Army using Access databases up until this past February, when his time there was up.
David is a pretty decent guy caught between a rock and a hard place. He can write (he's got game design credentials from back in the day), he loves gaming, he's good with programming and computers in general, and he's a really smart guy and a fast learner. His family won't help him and her family can only help so much. If anyone in the Seattle (or hell, let's just say Pacific Northwest) knows of anything (or knows of someone who might know of something), any leads you have would be greatly appreciated.
