Have a paper due in two hours. I am hopelessly behind on it, so that even though it's a short paper, there's no way I'm making that. I hate being late with things, but technology issues basically ate my week. Now, I got a lot done -- had good lessons with my students, did my WRC hours and was helpful to people, contributed in class... so that was all good. We went over Shakespeare in the Romantic period in the SAGES class I'm co-teaching, and I had a lot of fun contributing to that. It was good.

Charged with getting the living room/library in some sort of useful order today so that we can get the carpet cleaned. I also need to get some laundry done. Matt's family is going to be here next week, and it'd be terribly nice if the house didn't look like the level of wreck that four working adults in a house with kids and dogs general contributes to. That said, I've been following a thread on hoarders on RPGnet, and it makes me feel a lot better about my life, to know that however bad it may seem, it's really not near as bad as it could be or is elsewhere. Shadenfraude, you are my friend.

Still getting used to the new computer. My old macbook lappy effectively broke a hip with a short in its power circuits, and replacing the battery was sort of the last straw. Now it only works if there's no battery in it and it's plugged in all the time. Since that's not terribly portable, I've purchased a new laptop with the aid of Matt's Best Buy card (18 months same as cash for the win -- can I mention that this whole credit thing is just crazy? It is). It's a fairly middle-of-the-road sort of HP PC laptop -- nothing fancy like a tablet or anything, but it does what I need it to do. I miss my Mac, but my PC is native to all my A/V equipment at school AND it doesn't run like a mini hot plate AND it doesn 't chew through battery power at anything like the old one AND I can get 3-4 hours out of the battery at a go. I'll get comfortable with it eventually.

I am distressed by the political situation in my new state -- how the hell did so much crazy get in charge? I voted and everything (and not for these people) and I'm just horrified that it could possibly happen. Even worse, it's affecting people I care about, where it's not just outright evil enough to oppose on general principle. Gah.

Spring Break is here. I plan on finishing my paper, cleaning the house, catching up on laundry, getting caught up on my readings, playing video games, continuing to count points (it'll be a week on Tuesday), trying to get a doc appointment so I can get my prescriptions refilled, and maybe going to a museum or something. We'll see. It'll be nice to have a break, though. Good stuff.
