1. I am allergic to angora. No rabbity fur yarn for me.
2. Hard-boiled eggs are not my friends any longer. Glurp.
3. I rock at my classes.
4. Will can't wear things made of wool.
5. I desperately need to clean my house. Gaaaaaaaaaah.
6. I need a new bank like whoa. I'm thinking a credit union this time, at least as soon as I find out whether or not they'll want to put a hold on my paycheck every frickin' time I deposit one. That part of the weekend was not good.
7. I, yet again, make too much to get a Pell Grant. Le sigh.
8. I am indecently attracted to red and purple. I don't want to be one of those people who only wears like two colors, but I admit that it can be hard to pull away from them. They're just so PRETTY. As my yarn choices from the fiber arts convention this weekend prove. Ahem.

Date: 2008-02-18 03:44 pm (UTC)From:Sorry to hear Will can't wear wool. Supposedly alpaca can be a good choice for people allergic to wool - I know of several people who react to wool but have no problems with alpaca. :)
Also, re: red and purple - I think most people have those few colors that are predominant in their lives. I'm always a sucker for green and purple. grin!

Date: 2008-02-18 09:08 pm (UTC)From:We didn't find out about it in time to go to any classes, so we just wandered the marketplace and shopped. I got some gorgeous mohair/silk stuff I'm going to make a totally rockstar scarf with, and some really spiffy red/purple sock yarn... it loves me. I haven't decided yet if I'm making socks or something else out of it. I only have one skein, though, so it's not like I can make anything really impressive if it isn't socks. I don't know. T'any rate, I'll be updating my ravelry stash whenever I can get pics taken.

Date: 2008-02-18 04:02 pm (UTC)From:I run into the very same problem, with Bank of America. Y'know, I *wish* I made enough money that I wasn't an inconvenience to them ... but I don't.
Curiously, though, I watched the documentary "Maxed Out," and it all fell into place: Banks and credit institutions make more money from collecting fees than they do from investing our money. So much so, in fact, that they don't want to stop lending to "high-risk" applicants.
If you find a good bank, I'd love to hear which one it is.

Date: 2008-02-18 04:33 pm (UTC)From:Claudia would be one of these people, Anaka.
I'd reccomend a credit uninion, but mine only has branches in Houston.
And don't get me started on Pell grants.
Remember helping me pick out the computer in college? That was from 2 semesters worth of a pell grant.
I'm STILL paying it off.

This Is Not The Claudia You're Looking For.
Move Along.

Date: 2008-02-18 08:37 pm (UTC)From:I use WSECU, but I think you need to be a government (including colleges, etc) employee to join. I have heard equally excellent things about the Group Health credit union, though, which I believe is open to anyone who lives in the state.
The one credit union locally that I have had annoying experiences with was called something like "First Tech".
