Craaaaaaaap. It's snowing again, I can't get out, I'm stuck at home for Christmas eve, and I'm missing... well, everyone. My plan for this week, to make the holidays a bit better, was to get out and be, if not social, at least active. I was going to go to the gym, go see movies, see friends... something. Now I've been in this house for a whole week barring an hour on Saturday, I'm short on Christmas presents for boys (luckily I have until the weekend) and I'm just generally going slowly mad.

I need distractions like nobody's business. If you have any fondness for me at all, post something here for me so that I may substitute it for real human interaction and get through another day.

Oh, and I'm doubly disappointed, because I dreamt that it had rained and the streets were clear, and I was confused enough that when I woke up I thought it was real... until I saw the few inches of new snow that fell overnight.

I also dreamt that I had gone to school with John Cusack, met up with him again accidentally, finally worked up the guts to tell him I had a huge crush on him, and found out he thought I was cute too as opposed to patting me on the head and sending me away.

That one might be the most disappointing, actually. :)

::hugs:: I so feel your pain, girlfriend. ::sigh::

Have you ever played Chat Noir? It's fun and might be a minor distraction. It's also pretty kid-friendly should you need it.

Cool. The boys are at their dad's this week, so that's not so much a problem right now, but thank you.

I don't know if you're on Facebook, but I manage to waste a lot of time playing Scramble and Word Twist. Frustratingly, I can't get past a few of my friends on there ... still!

I know whereof you speak ... been housebound myself for the most part. No school, and work hasn't needed/wanted me to come in since last Wednesday. I kind of doubt I'll be going in today (plus I kind of don't want to in this weather). Luckily for me, there's at least SOME stuff I can do by walking around here ... like I went to Half Price Books yesterday.

Also, I've done really lousy with buying anyone presents. And you'd think I could use this time to get stuff done, but I've mostly been lazing about. Oy.

Anyhow, we'll have to hang out again sometime in the new year. I think it's been ages.

I am on Facebook, actually. And yes, you should give me a call and we'll go get coffee or something. :)

I did! Good stuff, hon. Thank you for pointing it out.

Solidarity for the snowbound Seattleites.

Take out your aggressions on the walking dead with Bum Lee's fun little Flash game: "H.P. Lovecraft's De'Animator" (kid friendly and safe, too).

I've been indulging my book obsession at www.LibraryThing.com -- I get to be as finicky and precise as I like in cataloging my books! Unfortunately I've hit my limit as to how many books I can add for free. *sigh* Guess this just means that I get to start rating them, adding reviews, and chatting on the message boards. :D

I'll also second the game-playing on Facebook. There's a lot of little flash games you can play if you play the Make Me A Celebrity app -- that game itself is totally shallow and lets you indulge in that particular fantasy. As you go up in levels, you unlock games you can play which will add money & celebrity points to your "character" as well. They're the same kind of games you'd get from Yahoo! Games, though, so you can avoid the Facebook app if you like and just go there.

Remember the "badger badger badger" meme? Now they're doing it to trance music: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/badgertrance

This was neat, and with a Christmas theme: http://www.akqa.com/happychristmas/

I can also offer sporadic chatting on Gtalk -- I've been dividing my time with playing games, school-related concerns, reading, futzing about on Facebook and other online bits (LibraryThing the newest, hehe), making wire-and-bead projects as they come to mind, chatting with Alex when he's available, and just... puttering. :)

The badger thing is not right. :)

Of course not! Would I point it out to you if it was? ;)

You're welcome to come over here for Xmas brunch, FYI. We're looking for people to replace the people who've cancelled...

Oh, thank you, hon. Why don't you email me ("my name"@gmail.com) and give me some additional information? I don't know that travel will be possible, but I'd be happy to hear more about it.

:(

Well, I'm in an airport and lacking in inspiration, and I don't know if you even go in for this sort of thing, but last night someone pointed me to 8-Bit Jesus, a free album consisting of mashups of old Nintendo theme music and Christmas carols. It's worth it for the song titles alone, if you're an old-school NES fan. It amused the heck of out of me, anyway.

Wow, that's cool and yet horrifying.

I don't know any good online distractions, and it's already past dark, so it's too late to take Rosie for a walk in the snow.

Maybe it's a good opportunity to write something or create something in glass.

If it's any consolation, we're going to skip the drive into Seattle tonight -- Astra was looking forward to going to church, but the roads were really crappy when I went to pick her up from her mom's this afternoon. I don't want to drive on them in the dark and after possibly refreezing. Bummer.

It's just as well. They cancelled the service for tonight. I got the email about it.

Huh. Wonder why I didn't get an email. They must love you more than me!

I feel your pain, lassie. Except for heading outside with the kids to frolic in the snow, I've been housebound since Snowmageddon began. Tracy has been out twice with friends to grocery shop, but otherwise cabin fever is in full swing. I haven't been able to walk the dogs, no soccer games, no nothin! Fuuuuuuck!!!

Ah well, we're supposed to play D&D on Saturday, so hopefully the snow melts between now and then and I'll finally get out of the house.

Merry Christmas!
