It's 1989 all over again. :) You can't tell from this particular picture, but that was my pink pretty princess dress... it had puffy short off-the-shoulder sleeves and a fitted bodice covered with transparent pink sequins (for the love of god, don't ask why) and a full-length pink organza/taffeta/something skirt that was not small. It required a petticoat, though not a hoop skirt, because I had some sense however little it may have been.

And those glasses? Grey at the top fading to clear, with a rose-colored nylon string around the bottom so they seemed vaguely pink tinted.

It's fascinating, isn't it?

I think I wear that dress in blue for Vampire. XD

I was valedictorian in 1998, but my high school yearbook et al are all in Ohio, where they can't get me. There are a couple of photos of a similar vintage of me on Facebook, but bad 90s fashion just isn't as funny as bad 80s fashion, is it?

No, 80's fashion is in a realm all its own. :)

I can top that sucker with a kelly green an gold hummer I wore (hold onto your socks) 2 years ago. That's right, ol' lady organizations ROCK for poofy lacy princess crap ... oh and I had a crown too. (though your glasses outdo any of mine).
I was never a valedictorian. I think I was lucky to graduate ... both times. I have to settle for freakish fraternal organizations.

Valedictorian was so not a thing. I had 25 people in my class some 20 years ago. I mean, it wasn't awful, but it wasn't exactly the competition one might think.

I dunno..I don't think anyone can top the horror that was pink frilly 80's prom dresses. I had a teal one and a black one and I look back on them and cringe but a princess pink one would have been worse.

Please note ... I took out the hoop for this photo.

I think that a pink dress with sequins is lovely and beling valedictorian is very cool.

Be grateful that you did not have to wear blue glasses in the hideous cat's eye formation. Um not that I did, of course. oh no. not me.

I had those glasses, minus the rose-tint string. No pink dress though, and nowhere near valedictorian. I was solidly in the middle of my class of '88.

Oh, the 80s. *grin* You look cute! Also: valedictorian, yay! I'll have to try to dig out a photo from my prom (same year). I had a big curly 'fro (spiral perm gone horribly wrong), John Lennon-ish glasses, and a white strapless bubble-skirted cocktail dress. *facepalm*

Again, to comment generally, valedictorian might have been a lot cooler if there'd been more than 25 people in my class. :)

The really funny thing is that the blurb makes me sound popular. I wasn't. I'd never been voted for anything before. I was named a National Merit Scholar at the beginning of the year, though, and the school got a flag to fly and it made the local news and everything, and suddenly people felt like maybe they had to acknowledge me somehow, so I got voted into every damn thing they had short of homecoming, and that because I didn't want to run. It was really freaking awesome after an entire school career of catching shit for "being smart." :)

Oh lord..that dress. Sounds terrible.

And those glasses..my MIL had some of those during that time period (I've seen photos). I call them The Glasses That Ate Your Face because the frame are so HUGE.

I consider myself ahead of the crowd by knowing not only what yellow sign was in your room, but why.

Your memory is improving with age. :) Hell, I'd practically forgotten that sign.
