Things you can't explain.

I got up the nerve today to ask my mom if Dad remembers that David and I aren't married anymore. Apparently he mostly does, or at least doesn't question it. He doesn't bring it up, mind you... then again, he wouldn't have been all that unhappy for David and I to split anyway.

The kicker, thoughis that when we're talking, Mom tells me that he doesn't really understand why I live "so far away." He asked her, "Doesn't she like us anymore?"

Gah.

She told him that. He doesn't really understand. After all, if I wanted to, I could get a job down near them. It would be something like working in an insurance office or some other clerical work, I'd hate it, but it would let me live near them if that were my goal. The real answer is "I love them, but I hate living there" along with "all the jobs I'm good at are here, among other far-off places."

Again, though, he doesn't really get it, and it hurts his feelings that he doesn't get to see me. Plus, he doesn't really remember where I live or why I'm here, whether he's told or not. It's so far away that with his current issues, it's the same as telling him I'm on the moon.
