1) I really, really need to stop using Firefox at work to access LJ. It gets all screwed up with the display when typing in responses, and then I can't go back and edit them once they're posted. It also makes me look like something less than the sterling editor I should be. *fume*

2) David's check came in, along with another belated check I had been hoping but not expecting to see. I therefore went and purchased a couple of books I've been wanting for ages but couldn't bring myself to get previously.

Ars Magica 5th Edition: I like nearly everything Atlas puts out. They're honestly one of my favoite companes, even though I've never written so much as a postscript for them. This is a gorgeous book (love the covers. Love them.) and I've only just dipped into it, but I like what I see so far. I'll try to give more of my thoughts on it in a future post, should anyone be interested.

The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, Vol. 1: I will quickly admit, in a whispered, guilty voice, that I had never read any of Alan Moore's work. Not one bit. I had no dispute to make to the reputation he has as a gifted writer, but I hadn't personally experienced it. That has now changed. I'd been wanting to buy this book for almost two years now, but only last night felt flush enough to do so without ongoing guilt afterwards. I don't regret its purchase for a minute. The only down note about it was that I finished it in roughly 30 minutes (or less, honestly) and did not buy Volume II at the same time. I'll be back for more now... oh yes.

3) Today is actually a really good day, but it's one of those days when, just over some mental hill, I can feel a huge wave of sadness just sort of waiting there should I happen to take a wrong turn and leave the sunny, happy place behind. With this knowledge in mind, I can avoid it pretty well, but a few extra hugs and reminders that life goes on, and often quite brilliantly so, would not be amiss. Assuming anyone feels up to the giving of such things, of course.

What They Said about Watchmen.

Ars Magica 5th Edition is a pretty solid game, says this player of two previous editions for over 10 years. There's a little errata to pick up on the website, and their freebie Book of Beasts pdf so you'll have animals for small monsters and things to shapeshift into (if that's you thing).

I played very sporadically in 3rd and even a game or two in 4th, including one well-intentioned play-by-post game on RPGnet that I ended up just not having enough time to keep up with, much to my regret.

That being said, I'm excited about the new edition, and I'm hoping I can work a game of it before too long.
