See, there's these two neighborhood kids who live across the street and down a bit: Nathan and Jamico (I'm almost certainly spelling his name wrong, but that's how it sounds to me). They'd talked with the boys over the fence and sort of played with them a bit before. They're older than my kids by quite a bit.... I think they're in 4th and 5th grades, respectively. Pretty good kids, all told.
Except.
It's becoming very clear that they come over, and enjoy coming over, not to see my kids or play with them but because they've discovered we have an X-Box and a Gamecube. They're coming by daily now, trying to come inside, and have asked if they can come play while we're out doing other stuff. Obviously, the answer was no. Just now they came over and asked if they could play with the boys -- when I told them the boys would have to play outside, they both left. I know this probably shouldn't bug me, but I have no time for people who just want to use my kids for their stuff, regardless of their other virtues. I'm of a very good mind to tell them no and exactly why that is next time I see them.
Bah.
