It rained today. After a beautiful, glorious summer, with weeks and weeks of sunshine and warm temperatures and beaches and amazing skies, it finally rained. It wasn't the normal gentle rain, either, but what equates to a downpour here, a couple of cloudbursts that sent nearly cold breezes throughout the house. Timing was good, too. A week from Wednesday, the kids are back in school for the year and summer is officially over. It felt like the end of something, like the close of a chapter. In many ways, at least for me personally, I suppose it is. It was something of a relief, actually... I discovered I'd missed rain, missed feeling like I'm living in a garden. It's good to be back to something that feels like the Pacific Northwest, even if it isn't enough to do more than really wet down all the pavement and give the plants a brief drink.
In other news, the cat has moved. She's now living with David until or unless we can find her a home in the next week or so, or unless he decides to keep her. I don't put money on the latter, especially since he really doesn't have a pet deposit available right now. I was able to open up all the windows and doors today after David left with her and her stuff. I got the kitchen floor mopped and cleaned for what was the first time in far, far too long. I'll be vacuming over the next few days to try to get rid of the rest of the allergens so that when my very allergic friend Tarisse comes to keep my company on Tonsilectomy Day, I won't have to worry about the house setting her off. At any rate, she's now where she belongs, and we'll see what comes of it. Thnk happy thoughts for her, if you will.
